i loved this article!!! i honestly always kind of feel intimidated whenever there are tryouts for beauty pageants or you know interviews for a brand new hooters that is opening, or an acting/modeling casting call. i immediately give up once i see that i’m the only black woman in the room because i already know that the white girls are going to get chosen since they are the “ideal” and men of every race love white women. it’s automatic and not even a challenging question, black girl or white girl? it seems that black women are always picked last for things having to do with beauty (unless of course they’re mixed or super duper light, then they have a better chance)
you’ve changed my perspective on things a little bit miss. maybe i won’t give up so easily next time.
I agree with everything you said, I just want to point out that mixed race does not mean fair complexion. Mixed race/biracial folk who don’t fit the Amber Rose/Halle etc. mold have a very different experience than those that do.
Never did the cheer leading thing. Did do the pageant( I won). Never fit a stereotype..I was the hooper..who used to be a ballerina. Even with long hair, I never feel like myself. I always got the most hell bc I never fit in and it used to bother me till I learned I was born to stand out…back to the article though, being Barbie suck but she sure is pretty…not as beautiful as we are in natural form!!

I liked the article until I read “So, where do all the real bitches live?”
