The temperature is dropping, layers are coming out and days are getting shorter. It’s a dawn of a new season, in which the poppy neon nail hues of Spring are replaced by darker colors for Fall.

Fall’s hues are rich, dramatic, moody and sensual. They are a fitting homage to the auburn, brown and burnt orange leave colors that characterize this time of year. They’re also a perfect complement to this season’s cold-weather trends like velvet, leather, burgundy and military wear.

Here are only three hues we can’t wait to try this season:

1. Gray

Gray is such an understated yet beautiful color and really picks up on Fall’s ladylike charm in a subtle way.

2. Burgundy

By far my favorite of the three, burgundy nails echo the sexy deep red lip trend. It is the edgy, dark yet just as sexy answer to the ubiquitous bright red nail.

3. Metallic

Glitter was everywhere this Summer, but metallic replaces it as a cold-weather and holiday-friendly way to shine.

What nail colors are you feeling for Fall, Clutchettes?

  • Bronze

I thought FLOUS nail polish was lavender.

  • shadow

I’m thinking about bronze for the fall, just noticed Bronze commented, hey Bronze;)A deep purple is something I might want to venture towards sometime in the winter.

  • Echi

I thought the same too – but I think I might look for a gray or silver.
I just recently discovered nude colors for women of color – though apparently, that trend popped up a couple seasons ago. I am SOOOOO lovin’ it.
And (understated) gold, I’ve tried before – it’s not as loud as I thought it would be.

  • Laugh

Since the First Lady wore gray, they say there’s been a run on gray polish. They can’t keep it stocked. Got my nails done last week really wanted gray and couldn’t find.

  • Treece

Its bluish gray. Either way, its hot
