Beyonce stans just got an unexpected surprise. According to several reports, Bey will hit the stage in February 2013 to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans.

The Huffington Post reports:

A source familiar with Super Bowl XLVII told The Associated Press the Grammy-winning diva will take the stage at the halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because that person wasn’t authorized to publicly reveal the information.

The official announcement is expected Wednesday, the source said.

For the next several months, fans will speculate on which megahits Beyonce will showcase during halftime  (I’m guessing ‘Single Ladies’ will get some play) and who will be her special guests.

Her hubby Jay-Z might show up for a “Crazy In Love” duet, Lady Gaga could pop in, or we might even see a Destiny’s Child reunion.

Despite taking it easy this past year while she settled into motherhood, it’s clear that next year—with a new album in the works and a possible world tour on the menu–Beyonce plans to take over the game yet again.

What songs should Beyonce perform during the halftime show? Who should be her guests?

  • Erin

Yeah, she HAS to perform this!

  • LC

She should perform”count down”and all fast stuff.a new single!?

  • African Mami

    She’s back. o_O

  • LaNubiana

Was she ever away? She should really take that much needed and deserved break.

  • African Mami

Now, you are fanning the flames….LMAO! Her clutch stans gon come out, in 5, 4, 3, …..

    Hey bloody sis!! :)

  • LS

    “Was she ever away?”

    Yeah, in 2010.

  • LaNubiana

    @African Mami

    Lol oops.

  • LS

    End Of Time!

  • Child, Please

I’m betting she’s doing the Madonna route and using this as a way to promote a new forth coming CD. To be honest, I don’t want to see her perform. I’d rather them get someone else who can really bring it with performances. I like to see the dancing, theatrics and creativity that go into a Super Bowl halftime show and she just isn’t that artist. Plus, I doubt they’ll have her collaborate with anyone; if she does it’ll more than likely be her husband or her friends from DC, which might be good for Kelly if she’s allowed to perform one of her songs.

  • Yb

So excited. She’ll be much better then Madonna’s can’t-lift-my-leg-too-old-to-drop-it-like-its-hot self.

Crazy in love and single ladies is a must.

  • African Mami

    @ Child, Please,

*DEAD* @ the DC friends and Kelly reference. Like you took it all the way there… you have opened the floor for stans to start snatching weaves. Minez, is a fro so it’s sitting on tight and right, if yours is Padmakali’s?! You berra hold on tight.

  • Lady P

Yes, Beyonce is going to do a great job. I am hoping she performs “crazy in love”.

  • LaNubiana

@ child, please & African Mami,

Let’s just hope she will hang her nude colored leotards since she is now considered a “a role model” by a sitting president. She needs to revamp her image and use her voice more than her crutch, then it will be worth watching. After all she is now a mother.

  • African Mami

Nah, I don’t think she needs to revamp her image just because she was declared a role model. I’d rather she do that of her own accord. Her image has NEVER bothered me, one bit. I have the likes of Eleni Gabre-Madhnin, Prof. Wangari Maathai [the late], as models enough for my unborn daughter. If Mr. President finds her role model material, cool.

The leotards are necessary hun! She be splaying it up. Ow!

  • B.Payne

    1. a verse and a hook of Girls Run The World
    2. a verse and a hook of Single Ladies
    3. The last 10 minutes of Get Me Bodied…Then the lights go down…
    4. Then BREAK OUT HOV with his in Crazy In Love Verse and afterwards, B and her girls murder the dance routine and right before the firecrackers blast and blaze, the music stops while she sings “LOOKING SO CRAZY IN LOVE GOT ME LOOKING GOT ME LOOKING SO CRAZY IN LOVE!!!

    **i hope i don’t come off a bit stan-ish, lol

  • Rue

What the heck do people mean when they say “stan”? All I see is “stan” this and that, but what does that even mean?

  • Lily

    I love you for this!

  • binks

It is just slang for an “overobsessed” fan. As for the Beyonce performance I hope she does something new, at this point I am like if you saw one performance by her you seen them all.

  • Nicole

I love me some Beyonce. Cant wait!!

  • Nicole

Remember the song Stan by Eminem? The song was about a fan named Stan who was so obsessed with Em that he ended up actually killing his pregnant girlfriend after falling into a depression because Eminem hadn’t responded to his letters.

  • LurkerG

She is so lucky in life.

  • Eme

Who cares what she sings? It is still gonna be the same shimmy-shimmy-coco-pop dance moves in the same spangly leotard/dress, with the same fans blowing back her lace-front.

My sister and best friend are both Beyonce stans, who watch all her concert clips on youtube. I have seen every last one of them, and it’s the same sh*t over and over. I keep wanting her to surprise me and make me understand why she literally has complete strangers ready to come at your neck if you breathed a word of criticism about her and….i just don’t see it.

  • Patience

There was no one else available? I don’t dislike Beyonce, but can’t they give someone else a chance?

  • MAC

Bey is so bomb that she doesn’t need any co-performer; HOWEVER, a Bey & Jay combo will always win my heart. I want her to perform Run The World because it would be hilariously ironic to do so at a football game.

  • Stats

Really, I’m so bored with this chick, no offense B but you give the same old, stuff every single time…scream to the top of your lungs, swing head around, drop to the floor…yawn wake me up…and she still doing the same thing…they should have used…someone else.

  • Pseudonym

Has Beyonce ever done the Superbowl before? (I’ll admit, I don’t watch it every year, but I’m assuming since you said they should give someone else a chance, implying that she’s already had that chance.)

Prince would’ve been awesome! (Did he ever do the Superbowl?)

Seems they alternate years with a classic/nostalgia band followed by a current pop artist. Looking at the musicscape now, for popular music, it’s either be Beyonce or Rihanna. (LMFAO’s to non-family friendly- and the latest Rihanna- and David Guetta’s just a DJ…though that would be aMAAAAAAAAAAAZING!)

What pop artist is popular at her level. Black Eye Peas were the last popular group. I’m trying to think of a group/artist, but can’t think of someone who is on that scale of pop stardom to do the Superbowl.

BUT…since I’m on the subject: the next old school artist for the Superbowl (if he hasn’t done it already) should be Stevie Wonder.

  • Mr. Man

LOL!! you are absolutely right, she constantly does just that, sheesh that woman exhaust me whenever I see her perform. I’m like ‘why am I sitting here out of breath’.

  • Downsouth Transplant

@ YB, single ladies @ a football game going on, not sure most the ballers baby mama’s will appreciate that much!LOL

  • Nesheaholic

That is exciting. I know she’ll give a good performance.

  • JN

She will definitely do a duet with a popular, older male performer, since it is football and Beyonce is not exactly a man’s singer. Probably someone in rock.
