In the latest video for her single “F*** N Get It Over With,” songstress Marsha Ambrosius’ is involved in an intimate relationship with a woman. The sexy clip shows a vampy Ambrosius seemingly confronting another woman only to walk hand-in-hand with the scantily clad sista to, presumably, the bedroom.

Almost immediately after the video premiered, many speculated whether or not it meant the London-bred songstress was gay.

Bothered by all of the talk, Ambrosius took to Facebook to air her concerns.

She wrote:

Double standards! Any male artist can openly brag about how many groupies he gets! Can u imagine how many men AND women have come on to me??? Listen to my music! I tell it! Always! I am not a lesbian! I am straight! I will never say I haven’t fantasized or had sexually explicit dreams about women before! That would make me liar! I’ve been called a lesbian since I got into the entertainment business! You’re no one till someone calls you gay lol I’m so comfortable with myself, I’m not afraid to tell the story from all perspectives! I’ve done so from the very beginning! Ppl hear what they want to hear! I make you listen to what I feel!

Ambrosius is no stranger to controversial videos. Her clip for “Far Away” caused a stir when it depicted an openly gay relationship and a man committing suicide due to bullying and homophobia.

What do you think of Ambrosius’ response to her critics?

Either way, the song is horrible… I miss Floetry being together. The music was so much better then. Still sad they broke up.

  • Hehe

She’s reaching with this bull. She knew what she was doing when she had a woman as her love interest; she wanted buzz and press. People reaction to her music video is normal inquiry. This isn’t an issue of double standard. If a male rapper put a man as their love interest in a video the reaction would be even worse. Anyway the song sucks Marsha, you can do better.

Whenever there is speculation that a famous person is gay every one just wants them to come out and say whether they are or aren’t. Now, she clearly has said that she is not, and people don’t want to hear it. Gay people make heterosexual music all the time–out of an untruth to themselves. She’s making music that she feels will sell because it will reach people. Not every song will reach every person, but that’s not the point. She has stated that women come on to her–and rightfully so, she’s talented and beautiful. And there aren’t exactly a plethora of lesbian-themed songs around. So she realizes that she can reach that demographic and she’s comfortable enough to do it. Good for her. Now that she has expressly stated she is not gay then I think people need to say, okay, thanks for answering–and thanks for realizing that your music made us ask.

ok but male artists don’t brag about sex with MALE groupies so… sorry miss marsha but you lost me there!

  • GlowBelle

Sounding all kinds of defensive isn’t she? Plus what’s with the exclamation points after every single sentence…you don’t have to scream, Marsha.

Anyway, the song still sucks. I’ll just keep playing “Say Yes” and act like that last album of Marsha’s and this song didn’t happen….

right!? if anything the double standard is how lately so many female celebs are pretending to be lesbian and bisexual just to get more press. it works because everybody praises women trying to have sex with other women sooo she benefits from a double standard!

just look at the pictures from nicki minaj and cassie’s video for “the boys” smh

I don’t understand why she feels she must dignify this with an answer. So what? as if it is anyone’s business.

Is it so terrible to be gay that you have to publicly say you aren’t? Relax, Marsha.

  • Real Talk Rhi-Rhi

The damage is done, no need to continue to front! This song/video was beggin for controversy, now it’s gittin her buzz & more than what she bargained for! U git what u ask for. @ the end of the day, it’s all abt record sales. This chick is hella gay & exposed herself further @ her own damn hands! F*ck the dumb sh*t! People have been saying she was gay for a while now. When I saw this on facebook, I just thought to myself “good for her”.And I have yet listened to the song..

  • Patience

At least not to the public…

  • Okay

You are stupid for saying that it’s horrible. You don’t know what GOOD MUSIC is. How about you write your own song and shoot a video. Oh Question… Can you even sing ? Smh better than her ?

  • Angela

Yes, this was done to bring some attention and not a women that in to men only will intentionally have a gay lover in a video if she werent gay.. and so what if you are.. we love the music if its hot.. and this is not.. remembe It’s too easy to get a man to play your opposite. But now to wanna get an attititude?!? And the Song is marginal ..
