Meagan Good and Laz Alonzo Star in NBC’s ‘Deception’ [Trailer] — Will You Watch?

Meagan Good is set to hit the small screen at the top of a year in a promising drama series on NBC called “Deception.” Good nabbed the lead role of undercover detective Joanna Lacasto, who is approached by NYPD detective and former lover Will Sacovitch, played by Laz Alonso, to take on a murder case.
The case is centered around the killing of a childhood friend in her mother’s former employers’ home. The show promises to be a thrilling mystery enhanced by the chemistry and romance between Lacasto (Good) and Alonso (Sacovitch). If it lives up to the hype, “Deception” will be a nail-biter that keeps viewers tuning in for more. It’s also great to see another black actress in a lead role on a major network.

I’m happy to see that the reports about basic television channels adding diversity to their programs is true. Early this year it was reported that we would start to see more shows and movies coming out geared towards minorities, so it’s about time.
While the reviews here are mixed on Megan Good being portrayed as a good cop despite her past roles, I don’t that it should be a deciding factor in watching the show. The acting industry is not easy to get into or find a role that not stereotypical, so many actors play the same roles over and over.
Plus, we have to remember that Kerri Washington played similar roles in her acting past that were questionable. Before she was Olivia Pope she did play the other woman in ‘I Think I Love My Wife’ and paid a man to get pregnant in ‘She Hate Me.’ Now she’s a television star and many people can’t go without watching Scandal.
The funny thing to me is that this show plays off of the premise of ‘Veronica Mars’ in that it’s about a woman searching for the truth about her friend’s murder. Then she starts to investigate the family and see if they were involved. So the idea behind it is old, but could be interesting too.
Wait. Did this just say that she’s going to have a Black love interest?! Wow! Usually pretty Black actresses are given White love interests. I’ll definitely check it out.
Watch the trailer…i think I saw her kissing a few white men.so don’t get your hopes up lol
Lol. Oh well.
Now you know, no major network is going to showcase black love…unless it’s Tiny & TI (nothing wrong with them btw). But trust and believe we’ll see an abundance of new shows where the beautiful black girl will be save by… the white knight.
Well judging from the trailer I think I saw a black woman(not sure if its Meagans character) kissing a white man in this story. It flashed so quick. You know in dramas like this they always have goodlooking blk women with a white love interest like you said, and I aint objecting. As long as he is a goodlooking white guy its fine with me. Anyway it looks very interesting and I hope its good enough to last. I will be watching.
“Lacasto” sounds Italian and “Sacovitch” sounds east-European… I wonder what the families of these 2 black people will look like on the show.
Meagan Goode is supposed to be playing an Afro-Latina. Lacasto is a spanish name.
I guess now that Scandal is a hit we will see more black women starring on television shows. Good!
Yes, hopefully all of them won’t have carbon copy plots/story lines.
or be maids, as Meagan Good is in this role – an undercover cop who plays a maid icognito. smdh.
Will I watch? Is it true that Meagan Good married a minister to suppress her involvement in running/owning a business that sells sex (prostitution, escorting, brothel, human trafficking…)?
I’ve always thought she was a good actress, but I’ve become very discerning in the type of people I will support, even if it’s just by watching their shows/movies.
Thinking back to her recent marriage…this is all programming (aside from the tv show) – very strategic…
“her involvement in running/owning a business that sells sex”
Really?
