Tyler Perry is back on the big screen in another non-Madea flick, “Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.” The film features Vanessa Williams, Brandy, Lance Gross, Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Kim Kardashian.

Perry previously felt compelled to defend casting the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” reality star in a letter, writing:

“I knew that this [film's] message was not only for my age group, but for all audiences, especially the youth. And not just the young people that follow me, but the young people that are following other young people, as well.

About two months ago, long before I even heard about Kim’s marriage or divorce, I was trying to finish up the casting. I said to one of my producers, “who else is out there that young people are looking up to?” One of my producers showed me pictures that his daughter had taken of several hundred kids lined up around the corner to get into a Kardashian store. They wanted to meet Kim.

I thought, what better person! She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. To have the young people that look up to her, see her in a film that is about, what happens in life when you make the wrong choices.

Whether you’re aware of it or not, to be honest with you I wasn’t, millions of young people adore her and are following her every move. If one of those young people see this film and find the strength to live a better life and not go through what these characters went through in this movie, then we have all done what I feel I’m being led to do here.”

Similar to Perry’s popular film, “Why Did I Get Married?,” “Marriage Counselor” focuses on the complexities of married life and also, the threat of infidelity.

The film, which hits theaters March 29th, centers around how cheating impacts the marriage between Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Lance Gross.

Wow! I think this may be his best movie yet…. Maybe?!?!? LOL

  • Guest1234

    Hell no.

  • Ms. Information

As far as Kim K —”looking up to” is a strong statement….but in other news..Lance Gross is beautiful…sigh.

  • Malik Hemmans

The trailer sums up the whole movie

  • Vasha

    Yes. It looks good.

  • AM

YES!!! DO YA’LL SEE THE FOINNESS THAT IS LANCE GROSS?!?!?!? I will watch ANYTHING that Lance Gross starrs in. I’m in CRUSH!! That man makes me not think straight at all!!

-I’m a fan of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, so YES! But Lance damn damn damn.

  • AM

    hey girliiiie!!

Lance is just that kind of chocolate that makes my knees weak, and my mind blank. Hallelujah.

  • Ki

Im Loving Jurnee in this movie !

  • Liz

    …this doesn’t look terrible.

  • Chrissy

I actually might have to go see this. This would be the first Tyler Perry movie I’ve seen since The Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

  • Love Sosa

Kim K, acting? I’ve already seen her movie. Wasn’t impressed.

Steve Nash no look pass to Kobe for the three on this movie.

I will watch when I can download it in torrent style. Also, Kim K acting is horrible. My bad her personality is horrible. She is purely boring, dryer than Sahara concrete, and she is the female version of Ben Stein aka Clear Eyes commercial dude. Bitch is like a robot when she talks. She just needs to do what she does best, keeping a black dick in her mouth, so no one can hear her talk. Another thing again… Tyler is that black man whooping ass again??? lol. I think he keeps that occurring in all of movies because, his boyfriends must abuse him. Tyler you gotta learn how to bob and weave. Hit up Ezel from Friday for some fighting movies.

  • Carmesha

Hate the title, looks a little overly dramatic in true Tyler Perry fashion, but I’ll give it a shot. I just wish Lance Gross was cast as the other man so he has more steamy scenes!

  • CCD

For the real deal on marriage, check out

  • Gina

OK, that looks really good. And it looks like it was casted nicely ask well.

  • Nadell

I absolutely adore Jurnee Smollett! Since Eve’s Bayou – and I am so excited for this type of role she’s in (haven’t seen her in anything in this arena)!
But casing Kardashian….her voice alone was a complete turn off!

  • Apple

This looks good ! I’d go see it

  • Caramel

Wow, girls are looking up to KK?!?!?!?! Yeah, just what I would want a daughter of mine to be like. All you young girls go out there and have a sex tape, dress revealingly and do absolutely nothing worth a darn with your life. Yeah, and oh yeah, make sure you get pimped out by your mom and boyfriend!!!!!!! REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?! Does he really believe she is a role-model?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!

  • binks

I wait till it comes out on redbox or direct tv…shrugs

  • seriously?

Tyler has some great actors…then he got some questionable actors..then he got someone who just sticks out because her “delivery” was very “i-remembered-my-lines”
however, it looks like hes improving, thank you Jesus, since that would be the only person who could possibly tell him anything with his stubborn self, but i won’t go to the theaters to watch it-he has two of my favorites actress in the film so for that i will rent on redbox.

  • nettie

I just wish one of his “dramatic” movies could be about one thing….this could be a great movie about making bad choices. WITHOUT the man she’s cheating with being an abusive asshole. You can convey the message that cheating is wrong, or whatever, without that next step. That it’s a poor choice and hurts your partner, even if the other person is great. Love triangles don’t always have to involve a really terrible choice and a really great choice. The choices are, generally, more even than that.

Am I the only one who thinks so?

  • MK

I love Tyler Perry, so yes, I will watch. I know his movies will just get better and better and better

  • Ice

I’ll wait for it to come on YouTube.

  • M.Shell

If I was married to Lance Gross, I would never cheat on that man<3 "Just sayin'!"

  • Kenzy

Jurnee has become a beautiful young lady and i dont know her name but the lady who played “Roc” wife Eleanor i like her. Seems like it would be a good movie ill definitely go check it out

  • sabrina

I love it can’t want to see it all!!! I love u so much tlyer keep up the good work …..

  • Mademoiselle

Kim K doesn’t come off as “natural” in her reality show. I don’t think I could stomach her playing pretend on the big screen. I’m sure wet paint would be more riveting.

  • EST. 1986

I’ve noticed a trend in the last few years where despite a woman’s age she is referred to as a ‘young lady’. It’s so annoying.

  • EST. 1986

    I will as well.

  • Well..

I’m not supporting anything with a Trashian in it period end of sentence.

  • Kenzy

wow its really not that deep …she is a young lady to me as I am much older than her so YES she is a young lady to me as i believe i read recently she is 26 and I was speaking for ME whatever personal issues you have w/the term is in your own mind .. but just so you know i think anyone around mid 20s is generally in our society referred to as young but you really shouldnt annoy yourself with such trivial things as you have a long way to go in life ms. 1986 my grandma would say…keep living.peace be with you Happy Holidays !

  • ❥upenzi (@upenzi)

Looks interesting. Still not sold on Kim as an actress. & was that an accent I heard when Vanessa spoke? Hmm…I won’t lie and say I’m not going to see it. lol

  • Barbara

It’ll be a hit, for some odd reason black people LOVE Kim K.

  • curious

    you know it!

  • Salmon

I always tell myself I’m not going to go see Tyler Perry movies.. yet one way or another I end up seeing it… So I wanna say I won’t but in the end– I’ll be there

  • mikey kun

ok, the trailer didn’t look that bad, and I really like Jurnee Smollett so happy to see her getting other leading roles, soooooooo I may not be a tyler perry fan but I;ll give it a shot

  • Lulu

Wow I was expecting much better based on the comments. It would definitely make a good stage play. If comparing it to other Tyler perry movies, it looks decent but on its own, it’s almost laughable.

  • EST.1986

    Huh? Okay, old lady.

  • Anthony

My wife and her buds will see it for sure! I will be watching the kids or taking them to the YMCA.

  • WaterLove

I agree with you, and have often felt the same about his movies. Like when Rockmond Dunbar’s character hit Sanaa Lathan’s character in “The Family That Prays…”. It was so unnecessary. We got the point without the slap to the face.

  • Liyah D.

Glad I’m not alone! Somehow I get dragged to one of his movies by friend/family member…

  • Gigi Young

Inevitable that the chatter remains on Tyler Perry (and Kim–I see you with that deliberately provocative, SEO-grabbing title, Clutch) instead of on the fact that this is Jurnee’s FIRST lead role in a major release. And also that black actors get a chance to do some wild, meaty drama that is usually the province of white actors.

  • Ekuba

wow, I’m definitely going to see it! I can’t tell the whole story line from the trailer but I think the movie focuses on infidelity? If it does then it’s very relevant for our generation where some people have sadly embraced ‘Ashley Madison’ and vehemently argue that monogamy is impossible. Hopefully, we’ll all realize somehow that it’s important for us to be faithful to those we’ve given our word to.

  • MissRae

    Girl, yes!!!

  • Liz

    …pray tell?

  • Trinity

Mmm..I will support this! We can never learn too much about temptation. Great cast and storyline…

  • Tonton Michel

    Obsessed not love.

  • AM

    this was for Miss Info!

  • The Bishop

Is it me or all Tyler Perry movies involve the same story line’s damn can the brother write or produce something else. His movies have always been predictable and lame. When can we see some type of progression within his art.

  • PJ

No thanks. I wonder how many of these gushing comments are paid staff from his production?

  • Ms. Information

Thanks Mami….I looooveee the chocolate girlle…MerryChristmas-Kwanza-and all that other stuff!

  • LemonNLime

Lance Gross? I’m there! I’m not even gonna pretend like I won’t see it.

  • AM

    YES LAWD!!

  • Barbara

70 + pages of worship on a BW message board

    Special threads dedicated to worshipping

I defy anyone to find one popular black message board where she is not mentioned or worshipped in “appreciation” threads.

I can’t even go on youtube without seeing “Kim Kardashian weave look” video suggestions. RMFE

WTF makes this woman so appealing to so many sisters. *sigh*

  • KemaVA

I’m going for Lance Gross also. I’m happy to see Jurnee too.

  • KemaVA

Lol! This reminds me of when I’m talking to my son (13) and refer to another kid as little boy. He’ll say something like “He’s not a little boy he’s 14″.

  • Kay

I don’t know why Perry felt the need to include Kim K. Jurnee Smollett and the rest of the cast are strong actors without her. I can tell from the trailer that she can’t act. Hopefully she’s been given only a few lines. But Jurnee, I’ve loved her acting since she came out in Eve’s Bayou. I’ve been a fan ever since.

  • JaeBee

I hear you Est. 1986. I’m 31, but look young for my age. People continue to call me ” young lady” because of that and it is rather patronizing. I always viewed the term as something you would say to a young child (i.e. “Now listen here young lady…”) and not appropriate for anyone who is clearly an adult. I understand that people don’t mean to offend by saying it, but society should really think of another, non-patronizing way to refer to such women. Afterall, we don’t go around referring to older women as “old lady” when they clearly look to be or are old. The sentiment should really be the same.

  • luverly

This looks like a movie that belongs on Lifetime. We need something refreshing. Tyler Perry’s storylines are so tired.

  • Gurl Please!

This makes me so upset. I have been struggling as an actor for years. There have been a few times that I thought I got my “big break” only for the editors or director decide to change the feel of the movie and reduce my part to more than an extra or cut me out completely from the film. But here we have Kim K who seems like she can barely read getting shine in a large part of the trailer and not one Black Woman that is darker than a paper bag. I will not be supporting you anymore Tyler Perry.

  • jessib

Brandy is in the movie too….

  • Oni Lasana

all the brothers are chocolate this time and Tyler is very inclusive in his films…stop hatin’…start congratulatin’ and maybe one day he’ll cast YOU..I will go and see it, hate it or love .. Tyler’s a brother and we need to support one another…maybe we need to stop “actin’” and start producing our own films…

  • EST. 1986

    Exactly, JaeBee.

  • gennatay

    You sound bitter..IJS

  • Joy

Gurl: So what does TP have to do with your not getting casted in a movie? And yes as another blogger mentioned….you do sound bitter. Tyler is not responsible for you getting cast, or not casted in a movie….you are.You are the one that trys out for parts.

  • Joy

I will definitely be going to see this movie. Can’t wait until the release date. Go Tyler. Big Ups to you!! I’m so proud, and glad for you that you are one of the few black writers/producers/directors that can get movies released. Contrary to what some people believe….it’s not that easy to do

  • GlowBelle

Typical Tyler Perry melodrama that looks like a warmed up Lifetime movie. I want to like TP’s stuff, but he just writes such generic slush, that I just can’t engage.

On a better note, I LOVE Jurnee Smolett, I find her so underrated. I just wish that someone would write a better role for. Her acting is pretty much above TP fodder, IMO. It’s also nice to see Vanessa Williams too. …but I’m not believing that Jurnee’s character would leave LANCE GROSS for that other dude. I know I wouldn’t…

  • khrish67

Can’t go to the movies because of physical complications but I certainly plan to own the blu-ray as soon as it is available. I like Tyler Perry and I support his works as best I can. Also see a new star that he is spotlighting. That makes me happy.

  • saniel

surprisingly that looked good. wont see in the theaters but when comes on dvd. i am no a tp fan at all but i could watch this one-maybe it has actors who can actually act. not all but they try

  • Joy

Bishop: How about you starting a production company: We’ll wait and see how much progress you make.

  • chanela17

joy, you have no idea how frustrating it is to have a passion for acting, only see see these untalented reality skanks get roles instead of those who are trained actors. it’s not just about kim or typer perry,

it’s frustrating when the only women they’e looking for is caucasian, latina, asian, or light skinned black women even for roles that wouldn’t even require a specific ethnicity.

has nothing to do with jealousy or being bitter

  • chanela17

THANK YOU! i thought i was the only one who noticed this!

every single black blog talks about the kardashians but never any other non black woman.

it annoys me on youtube when i see ” kim kardashian makeup/hair tutorial” people act like she invented wavy hair and smokey eye. i mean are you kidding me? it’s already bad enough that people act like she is the first person in the world with a butt.

i think women PERIOD are obsessed with her. her (and her family) is the only one plastered on a magazine every single week in the checkout

  • Leya

Wow….he really pulled me in there for a minute lol! :) Idk though….maybe, maybe not…it won’t matter anyways because he’ll be making money @ the end of the day so…*shrugs*

  • p

    1. The past tense of *CAST* is *CAST*..not CASTED.
    2. I do not find Lance Gross attractive, at all.
    3. Clutch just had to have KKs (the woman of a thousand faces) name in the title huh…any pretense to bring up this person yet again on a Black womans blog…hoping for what?
    4. Never saw a Tyler Perry movie……..

    If anyone cares……………….

  • Rochelle

Im 31 and love to be called young lady……..because 31 is young. Maybe not in the black world where a 31 year old probably has 5 kids and is 40 punds overweight, but it is still young. You guys are looking into that too much. It is not patronizing in the least bit. 20′s and 30′s ARE YOUNG. Start eating better and maybe you won’t be getting ready to die at 60…. thinking 27, 30, 35 is old. I swear…..And no matter how old a woman is, you should never reffer to her as a “old lady.” Maybe an “older woman” but not old lady. That is freaking rude.

  • AM92

Robbie Jones? I’m in there! I love this guy so much. He was just so cute on OTH

  • Lady

Ok, TP-I might catch it thru Redbox.

  • Chanel Rene

I think I just figured out the entire movie in that trailer. I hate when they do that. I love all things Tyler Perry, so I’m sure I’ll see it. But not in the theaters. I don’t think I’ve ever actually paid to see a TP movie in the theaters. go figure.

  • Shell

Tyler Perry never has dark skin women as major leading love interest. He always cast darker women as bitter, bitchie, lonely, angry, LOUD and sassy, or the tired mother who cleaned houses all her life…. and Im sure Brandy has less lines than Kim K.

  • mr.vicious

how about young ma’am, I say that to quite a few people. some get mad some laugh, to each their own.

  • Boof

i Will Not pay a dime see this movie, refuse to pay a dollar to see a kardashian on film, Tyler must be getting desperate , what qualifies her as a actress, oh maybe the fake love she shows, smh, Tyler just lost me as a fan, and I used to defend him all the time never again, smh

  • Nakia

“Maybe not in the black world where a 31 year old probably has 5 kids and is 40 punds overweight”

    Fvck off.
Yeah, I said it. I’m tired of having to explain and/or respond to ignorance.
