This week, sorority members from across the nation will be celebrating in crimson and cream, and pink and green.

Yesterday, January 13th, the members Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. celebrated 100 years of sisterhood with a series of centennial events throughout the District of Columbia and other major cities across the country.

And tomorrow, January 15th, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha will celebrate 105 years of service and growth.

As two of the country’s largest African-American sororities gather to honor Founder’s Day this week, let’s take a look at famous Black sorority and fraternity members — some you may know, others are not so well-known.

1. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King was a civil rights leader and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He became a member while studying as a grad student at Boston University.

2. Cedric “The Entertainer”
This comedian and actor is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

3. Alicia Keys
Keys became an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha in 2004.

4. Nikki Giovanni
Giovanni is a well-known member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

5. Steve Harvey
This media mogul a member of Omega Psi Phi.

6. Keisha Knight Pulliam
This former Cosby Show kid was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta at Spelman College in Atlanta.

7. Towanda Braxton
Towanda pledged Zeta Phi Beta long before she was on Braxton Family Values. She joined the sorority while studying at Bowie State University in Maryland.

8. Omari Hardwick
This Hollywood heart-throb is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

9. Jada Pinkett Smith
Smith is an honorary Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority member.

10. Sheryl Underwood
Underwood is a comedienne and the 23rd International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

11. Kelly Price
This soul singer became an honorary member of Sigma Gamma Rho in 2006.

12. Roland Martin
Martin became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha at Texas A&M in 1989.

13. Marvin Sapp
The “Never Would Have Made It” singer is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

14. Aretha Franklin
Franklin an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

15. Ryan Howard
This major league baseball player was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma at Southwest Missouri State.

16. AJ Calloway
The former 106 and Park host is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

17. Star Jones
Jones is an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha.

18. Natalie Cole
Cole joined the Upsilion Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc at the University of Southern California.

19. Montell Jordan
The “This Is How We Do It” singer was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at Pepperdine University.

20. Victoria Rowell
This soap opera actress is also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

21. Lena Horne
This legendary soul singer is not only known for her vocals, but also as a member of Delta Sigma Theta.

22. Rev. Jesse Jackson
Jackson is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

23. T.C. Carson
You may remember Carson as Kyle on the 90’s hit show Living Single. He joined Iota Phi Theta at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1981.

24. Phylicia Rashad
This ageless actress is a member of the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She joined while studying at Howard University.

25. Terrence J
The new E! News host is a proud member of the Bloody Mu Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He pledged while attending North Carolina A&T State University.

26. Shaquille O’Neal
Shaq is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

27. Michael Jordan
Did you know this NBA All-Star is a member of Omega Psi Phi?

28. Toni Morrison
This world-renowned author is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

29. Wanda Sykes
The comedienne joined the Gamma Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Hampton University.

30. Thurgood Marshall
This legendary Supreme Court Justice was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

31. Hill Harper
This Alpha Phi Alpha man was inducted into the fraternity in 2009.

32. Tavis Smiley
Smiley joined Kappa Alpha Psi at Indiana University Bloomington.

33. Loretta Devine
The actress joined the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority while attending the University of Houston.

34. Coretta Scott King
King is a famous member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

35. Tom Joyner
The popular radio show host is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He was initiated at Tuskegee University.

36. Lionel Richie
Richie is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha.

37. Dionne Warwick
The singer-songwriter is an honorary member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

38. Bill Cosby
Cosby is a member of Omega Psi Phi.

39. Zora Neale Hurston
Hurston is a famous member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She joined at Howard University.

40. Dr. Maya Angelou
Angelou is an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

    I wholeheartedly concur with my Sorors. Please be consistent in your coverage. Recognize that there are FOUR Black Greek Letter Sororities, THREE of whom celebrated Founders’ Days this week. Z-Phi my Sorors!

    I found the article re: “Black and Greek Stars” to be very biased and lop-sided as usual. Certainly, there are numerous other well known members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated that could have been noted just as was done for Alpha, Kappa and Omega; keeping all 9 organizations in balance of celebrity members listed would have presented a more respectful overview rather than the obvious skew and disrespect. Not appreciated at all.

      I would say the ratio of black stars in the PAN is represented very close to accurate in this article.If you disagree, then i can assume you have a dislike for “something”
