Condoleeza Rice Joins CBS News as Pundit

One of our nation’s most well-known Black Republicans has a new job. Condoleezza Rice can now add journalist to her resume, as she’s joined CBS News as a contributor.

The former Secretary of State made her first appearance Sunday on the political interview show Face the Nation.

Host Bob Schieffer said, “Everybody knows Condoleezza Rice was President Bush’s Secretary of State but I’m highly pleased to announce she has a new job. As of today, she’s joining CBS News as a contributor.”

According to a statement from the network, Rice will “use her insight and vast experience to explore issues facing America at home and abroad.”

Coming from the Cheney/Bush administration, it will be interesting to hear her views on the President Obama as he enters his second term in office.

Do you think Rice will be a good political pundit? Will you be tuning in?

She doesn’t seem to have the personality of a pundit. Nonetheless, I feel like her reports will be straightforward and mostly devoid of the spin so common to mainstream media. She just doesn’t seem like the “spin” type. I’m a huge liberal, but if she turns out to be a good and reasonable journalist, I’ll be happy to have some conservative reporting that, unlike FOX, doesn’t leave me throwing whatever’s in reach at the television.

I wonder if she’s making this move purposefully to get herself back in the view of the American people, so that she can move up in the GOP. At this point, it seems really likely that Paul Ryan will be running for president in 2016, and we all know that the Republicans are looking to diversify their ticket to gain back some of the minority vote that, at this point, they’ve completely lost control of. If he’s their presidential nominee and Rice has success in this new role, I wouldn’t be shocked to see her as his VP pick.

Always thought of her as a Fox woman myself.

I love Condi. Though I am not in favor of her politics, I appreciate her boldness as an academic.

  • DownSouth Transplant

Always thought she was a more private, reserved/controlled & straight party rhetoric kind of person, I would feel really bad for her if she had to shout her-way through a punditry BS, to just have her opinion heard, let us wait & See shall we…

  • AM

I’m actually quite excited for her. Go Condi!!

  • miz scarletts mammy

c’mon y’all. she is smart and all of that, but much of her most import activity took place under w’s desk.

  • miz scarletts mammy

you are all in heavy denial and very naive. feral white women do it, and whatever else is necessary to make it. mz. rice did it to be competitive with them, and she beat them all.

  • miz scarletts mammy

i wonder whose desk it was at cbs. probably some stippie. (a powerful white member of the society of two inch p^&cks)

  • miz scarletts mammy

i wonder which member of the society of two inch pr*(cks. she is servicing at cbs.

Voicing your opinion in any forum doesn’t make you a journalist – let’s not debased those that actually call journalism a profession. She is merely a highly paid pundit….huge difference. Not a knock on Condi and whatever qualifications she brings to the table, but labeling her a ‘journalist’ is more than a stretch.

Good, she got a another job. Rice has always struck me as someone who took advantage of the struggles of her generation while never making an effort to advance the cause herself. She has had a splendid career, but I doubt if she would last a minute if she spoke truth to power in any meaningful way.

You mean she’s just an opportunist.
