While Michelle Obama wowed the public in her banging Jason Wu gown at the inaugural ball last night, Jennifer Hudson once again demonstrated why she didn’t need to win American Idol to prove that she could sang.
The 31-year-old singer wore a black gown and had the honor of performing Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” for the Obamas at the inaugural ball. Her voice belted and flowed over the notes, adding a sultry mood to the old-school melody that we’ve heard President Barack Obama croon during his first term in office.
Hudson was extremely excited for the event.
“Right now the President and First Lady will dance to Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together,’ to be performed by … ME!!! Yes! Amazing night!” she tweeted on the evening of the inaugural ball.
Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder also performed for the President and First Lady on Inauguration Day.
