taye diggs private practice

Yesterday, after six seasons and 111 episodes, ABC’s hit drama series Private Practice aired its final episode. Taye Diggs, who played Dr. Sam Bennett, said the ending has been bittersweet.

“To be honest, I have mixed feelings. I feel like we’ve had a wonderful opportunity, and what we have has been special and different and unique. I feel very blessed to have worked with such an amazing cast,” he said. “Then story-wise, I feel like we’ve, as sad as it will be for a lot of us to leave, I feel like the show has run its course. Personally, I feel like I have gotten a chance to tell some really great stories and it’s just time for the next chapter. So it feels right to me.”

The season finale ended with Kate Walsh’s character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, marrying Benjamin Bratt’s character, Dr. Jake Reilly, which ended her love triangle with Dr. Benentt.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes revealed that the show would be coming to an end in October.

“There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that Private Practice was reaching its finish line,” she wrote in a message on her company’s website. “It’s heartbreaking to end. Truly. I feel so lucky to write for these characters and tell these stories and I truly feel this show has taught me so much as a writer. And there’s a family here, of crew and cast, people who have bonded over these past five and a half seasons.”

There’s no word yet on what Diggs’ next project will be, but he says he’s looking forward to the next chapter.

“In all honestly we are all fortunate and we realize how blessed we have been to be on a well-liked show for this long,” he said. “I am ready to move on.”

Where do you see Taye Diggs going next? Movies, reality TV or another scripted series?

    Taye who?

  • Vonn Fennicks

Enjoyed the ending. It would have been nice to see Sam and Naomis’ daughter and grandchild. Hope to see the actors in other projects in the near future. Wishing everyone well and continued success.

Came here for this. Certain black women still can’t get past his white wife.

  • ChaCha1

I can tell how little I watch tv, because I didn’t even know that show was still airing.

  • Afrostyling

Its not about his white wife. Its about him blaming black women for the failure of his show daybreak or some other show no one remembers.

  • amarie

Time to drop the ax on Grey’s Anatomy now. That show is so far off the rails it’s not even funny.

  • Kacey

    “Came here for this.”

So…you’re admitting to being a troll.

  • MySister’sKeeper

It was a good show and I enjoyed the ending. It felt like it ended at the right moment. Another season would have been too much. I was so happy Audra McDonald was back for the finale. LOVE her.

Agreed! I loved private practice in its earlier seasons but it jumped the shark and kind of derailed same thing with Grey’s I don’t even identify with the show and its characters anymore. That is the one thing about S. Rhimes shows they suck you in quickly but then it falls off.

  • Lala Fisher

I agree. Yet, I can’t seem to stop watching it……

  • aj

Please. Been patiently waiting for black men to get passed my white exes.

  • Tara

Why is this Bufoon on a black women’s blog?

  • Tara

So black women made his show fail? hmmmm……Well I see he slitherered his narrow ass over to a black woman (Shonda) who has provided him with income for the last couple of years…Aint nobody checking for this negro.

  • Blair

The same women Taye praise are the same one who would not hire him for an acting job,but the women he put down are the ones getting him jobs. How ironic.

  • Stephanie Hickman

I hope he doesn’t end up on Scandal. That show is good and does not need him.

Taye Diggs is a horrible actor. Much like Halle Berry, his success is due to his beauty.
