To hell with pomp and circumstance.
Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana did it their way. In the midst of speculation of a grandiose wedding, Jackson and Al Mana secretly married last year. The news wasn’t sent via any outrageous public relation media release, but by posting a simple message on her website:
“The rumours regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favourite children’s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet”
Earlier this year there were rumors of prenuptial agreement issues. Allegedly, Al Mana ripped up one agreement, to put a better ‘deal’ on the table. Wissam is one of the richest investors in the Middle East where he represents such fashion and style icons as Hermes and Sonia Rykiel. He is also a major shareholder in Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait.
This is Jackson’s third marriage. She was married to James DeBarge in 1984 and was divorced in 1985. Her second marriage to René Elizondo, Jr. lasted from 1991 to 2000.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
