In your weekly dose of Beyoncé and Jay-Z  news (joking), it is being reported that the Carters are pop music’s first billionaire couple.

Blue Ivy, you’re set for life.

The International Business Times reports:

“The 31-year-old Beyoncé is raking in millions from her “Mrs. Carter” show tour, which began Monday night in Serbia. The Daily Starreports that Beyoncé is set to earn approximately $116 million from the world tour.

She is also making millions as the new face of H&M.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z has earned millions as co-owner of the 40/40 club, which has two locations in New York, and is reportedly selling his small share with the NBA Brooklyn Nets to extend his Roc Nation Sports representation business into basketball, according to Yahoo Sports.

With $1 billion, Jay-Z could certainly afford the $4 million private island that he is said to have bought in the Bahamas for his family.”

Private island in the Bahamas? I wonder if they’re looking to adopt an adult.

All the money in the world and making very little difference in it..unless you count entertaining making an impact.

  • Not.a.dime.from.me

All the money in the world yet making very little difference in it ..unless you count entertaining as making an impact. Good for them I guess. (and yes I think the same for all other people who are multi-millionaires and billionaires). Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are different.

  • Anthony

I know I sound like a hater, but I hope they buy a little class while they are it. Oh well, I am probably being contradictory because they didn’t earn that billion pretending to be Bill Cosby clones.

  • Rue

Well good for them. I certainly don’t agree with how, they earned lots of it, but it’s the consumers that I fault most. Also, WTF am I doing in college?

  • Deb

yep and not saying they aren’t rich or at the top of the industry right now but their monetary worth is pretty much boosted to such a large amount by dollar inflation which will continue to skyrocket until the chickens come home to roost

  • Deb

“Also, WTF am I doing in college?”

Hopefully learning and acquiring valuable knowledge and skills…?

Good for them. *cries in my cubicle*

  • Rue

Ha! I should really start rapping and booty shaking though…

I think that maybe they are generating $1 billion, but I don’t think that is their net worth. The report seems questionnable.

  • The Moon in the Sky

I must say that I just don’t understand what makes these two so intriguing for others.

  • Missy

No you shouldn’t Rue. I’d rather be smart than either of them. Have you seen their taste in anything? They are tasteless trash with money. Go on and get your degrees. You’ll be better off for it. x

No according to Forbes they’re combined net worth is a billion, IJS.

  • http://gravatar.com/dollielintoniii Get to the Choppa

Maybe the same reason why you don’t understand is the same reason they are worth a billion. They understand the consumer as a whole and provide them with services and products that masses want. They have a billion dollar mind set not a J.O.B. which stands for Just Over Broke.

    Stay winning.

Must be nice… I think they are another example how marriage can be very lucrative and speaks of the benefits of upgrading one another.

  • Rue

i was just kidding but Thanks 4 the wise words.

  • isolde3

link to your source please. when did Forbes say this?

  • JN

Still questionable. I would inquire after the breakdown of their finances (how much their tours go directly to them after the expenses of setting up venues, paying the tour managers, band members etc involved, how much they make on songs, commission on endorsements, deals with Barclay center and Live Nation). I would also question the figures that celebrities’ press people publish–they sometimes stretch the truth and then the media republishes those figures. If you really read those lists, you would notice that Forbes does not provide comprehensive information on any of that. I do not take facts and figures at face value just because it was published.

  • Echi

    Urrghh – I want Beyonce’s shorts.

  • ROCKS!

YES! My brother was just making this comment last night. What exactly is Jay Z and Beyonce doing for our communities? How are they educating us to better our selves? Why do people glorify them as though they did something for them except flaunt their money? I for one, am not a huge fan of either of them, however, I see them as successful artists in the financial bracket. However, I do believe that success is not only financial but also relational – are you aiding those in your community? Are you making initiatives to helping black men get out of the SAME streets you were in? Are you helping young women use their talents to garner success as well?

No – I don’t see that which is why it troubles me when I see Jay Z and Beyonce fans clamour to ALL the things they say. Sweetheart, Jay and Bey ain’t thinking about you – they are thinking about stacking their paper.

  • Anthony

I know a middle aged man’s opinion doesn’t count, but I don’t like how those shorts so tight in the crouch. It is not a flattering look for anything but a swimsuit or tights.
