If news that Octavia Spencer has lost 20 pounds and is now the spokesperson for Sensa, it shouldn’t. Though the Oscar Award-winning actress flaunts her weight loss in a new video for Sensa, a dieting product designed to decrease appetite, she still claims her goal isn’t to be a size 2. “I know I’m never going to be one of those size 2 actresses — that’s just not me,” she says “But I do want to be the healthiest I can be, and a role model to women of all shapes and sizes,” she says.

You’ll never see Octavia go to the extreme with weight loss or dieting, but she does want to stay fit. She reveals: “weight has always been a struggle” and “If you tell me I can’t eat something, I’ll obsess over it and end up overeating! So whenever I would try to lose weight on one of those restrictive diets, I would just end up gaining the weight right back.” To face that struggle head-on, she’s tried Sensa and experienced great results.

Not only has she shed 20 pounds, but she says she’s enjoying a healthier lifestyle overall. Check out her video below:

The only thing I don’t get about Sensa is that it doesn’t encourage people to eat Healthier food…it only decreases their appetite. So basically people are still eating the same sh*tty food that will clog their arteries, just less of it. I don’t see how this is being healthier

    was that sensa or mensa?

  • myblackfriendsays

Boooo. I wish she was not hocking some (most likely worthless) diet sprinkles.

  • The Artist

I agree. Losing weight and having the ability to sustain it is definitely a lifestyle change….

  • Starla

Good for her! The weight aged her too much for someone so young.

  • Hehe

She’s just going to gain it back. Crash diets never work. Contrary to what she says in that stupid sensa commercial a successful weight-loss journey involves a lifestyle change. Eating healthy balance diet and portion control works well.

  • Miss A

Sad to say, it’s possible she may gain it back. If the only thing Sensa does is curb your appetite and you continue to eat crap, just less, then unless she plans to sprinkle for the rest of her life, the cravings may return and portion control will go out the window. However, maybe smaller portions will stick with her regardless of the sprinkles or not? Either way, CONGRATS to her and she does look better. She was on the View recently and she looks good!

She has really done a great job. I am thinking to make a post and publish it to my blog ( ) to inspire my blog readers. :)

@ James, I was hoping to find your favorite quote in the comments section when I clicked on this story ie : ‘fruits, nuts & grains..’.

  • Yes, I’m That Leah

I like the ad and I like Octavia, but I don’t want her to take the Sensa advertisements too far like Jennifer Hudson in Weight Watchers. And you know what? They always say that they don’t want to be a 2 and wind up what? A 2! lol. I like the way she looks at this point!
