Every time I get my eyebrows threaded, I walk away feeling like a new woman. I feel like my face looks more symmetric and I joke with the salon owner that it’s an instant face lift.

One of the first things people notice about your face is your eyes and your eyebrows are the frame for your pretty peepers, so you don’t want them looking unkempt. Check out these grooming tips to help you get and maintain the perfect brow shape.

Consult With a Pro.

Visit someone who specializes in eyebrows for the initial shaping of your brows. Some women can just look at their eyebrows and figure out the perfect shape but some of us have no clue where to start. The best bet is to see an expert now, so you won’t end up crying later.

Choose your treatment.

Plucking isn’t the only method of shaping up your brows. You could have them waxed, threaded or use laser hair removal on them. Do you research and consult with an expert to decide what works best for you.

Once you have a gorgeous shape to your brows, maintenance is key. And the best part is it’s easy! Just invest in a pair of tweezers and pluck away stray hairs that are growing outside of the shape you desire. To avoid creating uneven lines and bald spots, focus on the hair in the middle of the brows and on the brow bone.

Fake it Til’ You Make It.

If you have thinner brows, invest in an eyebrow pencil or powder to fill in those sparse areas. When using a pencil, be sure to use small upward strokes to create the look of strands of hair. It’s not becoming to have straight lines drawn on your face where hair should be.

Long Hair, Don’t Care.

One way to help the hair in your brows grow is to put castor oil on a Q-tip and apply it to the thin areas.

  1. Another tip:
The best time to tweeze is when you get out of the shower because your pores will be open. It will make it easier to pull out the entire hair follicle instead of accidentally breaking it off only part of the hair and risking an ingrown hair later.

I will definitely start putting castor oil on my eyebrows they are not as thick as I would like them to be.

I seen some youtube videos about using petroleum jelly on eyelashes and eyebrows for thickness, growth and shaping .

  4. Biggest mistake people with eyebrows is not getting them shaped by someone who knows how to work with what they have and how to pick a flattering shape.
I seem to see a lot of women who get their eyebrows done but have the worst shaping ever.
If your initial shape is bad, nothing but growing them out and starting them over will work.

I completely agree. I have been afraid to get my eyebrows done since 2006 because the person I went to did such a mediocre job. It took 1 year for them to grow enough to completely reshape them. Ever since, I’ve done my own. I’m looking for a good person, but I’m not just walking into some random salon to get them done. References only.

  5. I used to do my own plucking. But when I decided to have my brows threaded at a salon, I never looked back. The difference is just amazing.
