Vh1 is preparing to release the third season of “Single Ladies” this summer. The network is increasing the show’s sizzle by adding three new characters to the dynamic cast. Letoya Luckett, Damien Wayans and Lesley-Ann Brandt have all joined the “Single Ladies” cast, which currently includes LisaRaye McCoy, Denise Vasi and Charity Shea.
Vh1 introduced the new characters in a press release. Luckett will co-star as Felicia Price, founder and senior partner at Price Management, an influential music management firm. Shea’s character April works at the company as shown in season two.
Wayans has been tapped to play David Berenger, a music manager and thorn in April’s side.
Brandt has accepted the role of Naomi Cox, a woman focused on accruing wealth at any costs. She is expected to clash with McCoy’s character Keisha.
This is Luckett’s first television series role. Wayans is currently starring in “Next Generation Wayans” while Brandt has guest-starred on CSI: New York and several other broadcast dramas.
All three actors are welcome additions to the cast, especially with the departure of Stacy A. Littlejohn, “Single Ladies” co-creator and executive producer. Network executives hope the additions will retain viewers after a successful season two.
“Single Ladies” averaged 3.2 million viewers per episode in season two. Jeff Olde, Vh1’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production, hopes this momentum will continue.
“Our viewers’ love affair with ‘Single Ladies’ got even bigger [in season 2], growing significantly from its successful first season and dominating its time slot on basic cable,” he said. “We’re extremely happy that we’ll be able to give the audience another great season of the series and its honest, current take on love, dating and female friendship.”
A season three trailer hasn’t been released.
