Beyonce Dad Remarries Singer and Sister Solange Do Not Attend

Beyoncé has a new stepmother. Her father, Mathew Knowles, got married last Sunday. His representative told The Associated Press on Friday that he has wed former model Gena Charmaine Avery in Houston, Texas. The pair had been engaged for a year and a half. Knowles and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina, divorced in 2011 after 31 years of marriage and two children.

Knowles told TMZ  his two daughters couldn’t make it to the ceremony, saying, “Unfortunately, Beyoncé and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend.”

A little over 3 years ago, Beyoncé severed business ties with her father. Knowles, head of Music World Entertainment, stopped managing his daughter’s career in March 2011. In a statement to Us Weekly at the time, Beyoncé  said there was no hard feelings based on her decision.

“I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level,” Beyoncé said. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother [Tina Knowles] manage and own their own businesses. They were hard-working entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps.”

  • I don’t blame them. I would’ve made an excuse too!

At 48 years old, she looks great.

She does. When I looked at them together; I thought she was much younger. She needs to sell whatever she is doing.

  • At the end of the day, Matthew Knowles is a grown man so he doesn’t need his daughters’ permission or even blessing to remarry. However, if, and a big IF, he didn’t include them in the process then I can see why they didn’t attend. There’s so much we don’t know behind Beyonce’s thinly veiled press statements. I gave the serious straight face when I read they didn’t attend but at a point Beyonce made sure to let the public know they were all good. Yea, right. It’s kinda difficult to not have hard feelings when money is involved and then you throw in cheating, mannn listen… Beyonce looks wild sus, but it all looks pretty clear to me. There’s no bigger statement than not attending your father’s wedding. Like I said we don’t know all the facts so more power to them. Lol

I laughed at 18 & 48 bc that man really tried it. He ain’t have no business with you. That’s really disgusting on his part for basically taking advantage of your immaturity.

I see the reply button is still faulty as hell, Clutch. My last comment was in response to another commenter.

Anyway, I’m going to be honest… My parents have been married 34 years & if my daddy (whom I absolutely ADORE & want my husband to model) did something like that to my momma, it would take a miracle for me to come to terms with it & THEN attempt to rekindle our relationship but know it would never be the same. Maybe it’s easier for y’all who didn’t grow up with y’all’s parents being in a long-term marriage but I couldn’t even imagine. All I know are my parents, as far as a couple are concerned. They got married then had children so it’s all I know is them together. I admire my daddy so & I know Bey felt the same about Matthew so I get it.

I think we sometimes hold our parents to certain standards & have certain expectations of them bc of what they show us – they try to show us these superhumans who can do it all bc they want to lead by example so when they fall short of the tree, which is what they preach we shouldn’t do or at least try to avoid at all costs, it’s really shocking.

I can’t blame Bey & Solange bc if that was my daddy I wouldn’t have went either. Grown woman or not – I’m still his child & he’s still my daddy!
