Al Jazeera America launches today and aims to be a strong force when it comes to cable news networks. The two faces of Al Jazeera America aren’t veterans to the news world. Award winning journalist Kim Bondy, formerly of CNN, is the senior executive producer of the network’s program, “America Tonight”. The aim of “America Tonight” is to cover those stories dealing with health, culture and economy that may have been overlooked.
Joining Bondy on Al Jazeera America is Richelle Carey. Carey, also from CNN, will now anchor on Al Jazeera America.
“Al Jazeera America is going to fill the void of good storytelling that exists in American news,” Bondy says on the network’s website.
Formerly known as Current TV, Al Jazeera purchased the failing television network owned by Al Gore, for $500 million in January. The network is headquartered in New York City, but has a staff in 12 markets across the country. If you’re in market for a journalism or new media job, Al Jazeera’s job site is definitely worth looking into.
