law & order trayvon martin case

The Trayvon Martin shooting is getting a ripped-from-the-headlines “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” treatment.

Cybill Shepherd says she plays a vigilante-like character loosely based on Florida neighborhood watch gunman George Zimmerman.  Shepherd’s character has killed a black teen named Mehcad, although until the episode airs in October, the details will remain unclear.

In a scene that was filmed yesterday, Shepherd and her legal team are leaving court and they’re swarmed by a group of reporters and confronted with angry people waving signs similar to the ones seen at dozens of rallies held in honor of Martin over the last year.

Art imitating life…..I love that SVU isn’t afraid of making these shows, regardless of the controversy that follows.

  2. I wonder how this would fit in with the special victims theme don’t they usually handle sex crimes of things of that nature. I guess since the original “Law and Order” (which is my favorite was cancel) then they had to put all their show on to the only one that is still standing. I hope they do better than the CB/Rihanna one.

I miss the original. But it was never the same after Jerry Orbach died.
