Shame on you Russell Simmons.

Shame on you Russell Simmons.

I guess nothing is sacred anymore.

All Def Digital (ADD), brainchild of media mogul Russell Simmons and Awesomeness TV CEO Brian Robbin, recently released a YouTube clip reimagining just how Mother Moses freed so many slaves.

In All Def Digital’s web series, ADD History: Harriet Tubman Sex Tape, YouTube comedians DeStorm Power, Shanna Malcolm, and Jason Horton offer their “outlandish and irreverent” take on “the off-record account of how Harriet Tubman blackmailed her master into letting her run the Underground Railroad!”

During the “reenactment,” Tubman seduces her master, telling him, “All these years I’ve been acting like I didn’t enjoy our special time together.”  The pair then engages in a sex act that culminates with Harriet’s master confessing his love for her, while she brushes him off, saying, “Look n*gga, I don’t give a damn about who you love.”

*long heavy sigh*

I’m not even sure where to begin.

Downplaying the very real rapes and abuse Black women endured during slavey? Check.

Casting an obese Harriet Tubman to play into of the negative stereotypes about Black women’s bodies? Check.

Portraying Black women as Jezebels who use sex to get what they want? Check.

Normalizing the idea that all Black women are sassy and always have something smart to say? Check.

Portraying Black men as coons? Check, check, check.

This video is not only completely unfunny, but it’s a slap in the face to Harriet Tubman, as well as the millions of enslaved African Americans who suffered through the unspeakable horrors of slavery.

I’m also saddened that Russell Simmons, who has been outspoken on issues of race and class over past few years, signed off on this disrespectful parody our history for the sake of a few YouTube views.

UPDATE: A petition has been created to get Russell Simmons to remove the video & issue an apology. Read more about it here

UPDATE # 2: Russell Simmons has taken the video down and issued an apology.

  • Misha

*face palm* What the f**k did I just watch? That wasn’t even slightly funny…

  • Sunny

Speechless because I am sad, not because I am surprised.

  • Jaime

And this is EXACTLY where the hastag #BlackPowerisforBlackMen comes from.

  • PineApple

    You know what…I’m leaving…

  • lexie

*sigh, I will watched the video when my heart is strong enough to witness the degradation of a triumphant, iconic black woman

  • Marisa

I mean this from the bottom of my heart WHAT IN THE ENTIRE F*#K IS THIS, yep Uncle Ruckus indeed. This ranks right up there with that dumb ass Fox Sports commentator Jen Engel comparing Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel ol autograph signing for cash ass to Rosa Parks, meanwhile the heffa called a black football player a terrorist for exchanging autographs for some tattoos. I am convinced we live in a society where some people are sharing the same brains, and not ones that contain any damn sense. Just like a couple years ago some fools came up with the Real Housewives of Civil Rights skit SMH. All involved in this deserves a first class ticket to hell

  • BeanBean

Sweet Jesus, have these people gone mad?

  • TajMarie

This mess is only one of a number of reasons as to why I have always have had a perpetual side-eye towards Russell Simmons. Every other time you turn around, he is always professing his love and his support for Black People, but yet turn around and does something shady whether it is to defend some of the violent and misogynistic antics in hip hop, shove his Rush Card down people throats with its usury fees, and now this. While, he seems to be a poverty pimp for people who don’t know how to (or can’t) open a bank account, his brother seems to be a misery pimp for women who have a hard time finding a decent mate whose advice is neither profound or novel. This is the same man who made himself to be one of a number of spokespeople in support of Occupy Wall Street, yet was charging people huge fees to save their money on a “Debit Card”. That is why I didn’t post anything to support his comments in response to Don Lemon. He only wrote that open letter to garner attention well after the Backlash that Don Lemon received. Furthermore, I have never seen him come out in support of “Black Women” on ANYTHING — and if you read his letter to Don Lemon, he doesn’t (even though Don Lemon scolded Women about having children out of wedlock with questionable men). So, surprised?! I am not. Someone send his azz that hashtag, please.

    #BlackpowerisforBlackMen :

Because boys wearing pants below their waist = Black Men wearing Afros and Dashikis >
( is a greater effort for civil rights) than a Black Woman risking her life to help free other slaves during a time of immense rape against Black Women (or at least not making a mockery of that history).

    @$$ hole. . .

  • linguanigra

who are the actors who agreed to be in this? #hollywoodshuffle

  • HG

    I can’t even… I just CAN’T!

    1. The desecration of Harriet Tubman (one of the few who was able to avoid the horror of slave rape – so her biographies reveal)

    2. The reduction of the GENOCIDAL ONSLAUGHT that was slave rape to a “joke.”

    3. The perpetuation of every horrible stereotype about black womanhood: Mammy, Jezebel, Castrating Bitch, I mean, just lump it all together!!!

  • Ash

I won’t even click on the video and give them ad revenue.

Is anything sacred? A historical figure who saved people lives? I’m all for humor but this is tasteless and tacky.

Russell Simmons is a joke. I don’t agree with Don Lemon’s comments but he has a lot of nerve to reprimand Mr. Lemon and then attach his name to a “Harriet Tubman Sex Tape”.

And because I’m all heated, I’d like to ask. Would Booker T. Washington, MLK, or Fredrick Douglass have a “sex tape”? Oh, I doubt it.

  • That Dude

It’s just comedy people, live a little.

  • Job

Except a black woman and white man participated in making it. All this finger pointing and bickering is becoming childish and annoying. It only inspires defensiveness and it’s certainly not constructive.

  • Mando

People are laughing and posting videos all day about recent events, not parodies at all but this isn’t funny? I laughed hard at this

  • footballphds

I thought this was sorta funny. Like what if Harriet had Twitter AND a sex tape? Isn’t that the joke?

  • Mando

I thought that was pretty funny

  • cupcakes and shiraz

Yep. This is why we need to speak about #blackpowerisforblackmen

  • Me27

smh…this is sad and disrespectful. It wasn’t even remotely funny. I just don’t understand why people don’t think before they post. I’m sure a half-arse apology will be issued within the next few days.

  • Greg Dragon

“Portraying Black men as coons? Check, check, check.”

So this part of the article must be pure irony then right? Oppression Olympics is a wonderful sporting event especially when the black man is put out to roast.

  • Ms. Information

Slavery has been so romanticized, almost to the point that whites believe that they saved us from Africa and civilized us…like all we did was make sweet tea and sing damn songs to their evil asses…..this is why we get no respect, we disrespect ourselves..

  • Jeremy Nowell

selling your soul for money…selling out your race for a few laughs…one giant step back for our culture, but some how I’m sure it was one giant step forward for his pocket books..Don’t mean to knock his hustle, but did he have to knock down an entire culture…in less than 4 mins tho -_-

  • Rakel

Didn’t he just release a statement calling out Don Lemon for his oversimplification of Black social problems? But somehow he approves this? SMDH it’s beyond sad and pathetic that some Black men don’t afford Black women problems the same courtesy they do for Black men.

The video and these comments say a lot about where we are as a society today. if mr simmons goal was to start a conversation, he sure did. can everyone relax now?

  • omfg

i was just about to write this.

even an iconic black woman who saved hundreds of us from bondage isn’t worthy of the respect or above being the victim of misogyny.

having said that, i’ve heard of black men remarking about the rapes black women and girls endured during slavery like it was some sort of consensual, loving, passionate affair being had with white men.

  • Cali

    NO…. smh!!!!

  • j

Whatever rsimmons made millions off of pimping youth in a fatherless culture with his talents he is no real friend of aframericans. The fact that this happens explains lack of marriagable men in hip hop culture. No real respect for blk women the men are following The rs def jam cult, not leading their homes which is what a real man does. Many men are. Money isnt everything uncle Rush.

  • j

I know right just bc human trafficking took place 100 years ago doesnt mean its not trafficking. But explain this to white folks who parade against human trafficking today and they look at you like u lost your mind. Not everyone but many still think ‘its just a part of history’ somehow im sure theyd feel diff if it was their relative in chains. Shame on rush

  • Willy

Just jokes people. It’s not that serious.

  • Kellogg Liberbaum

*Sigh…* Isn’t he always b!tching and moaning about “the struggle” and degradation of the black community???

    Kettle: Hello Pot
    Pot: You’re Black

  • leelah

you’re going to have to elaborate. your point isn’t clear.

  • omfg

this is a russell simmons production. it’s his channel and so his work. that’s how that works.

  • Nadell

    The irony….
Russell Simmons just penned an open letter to Don Lemon scolding him for his recommendations to the black community and all that is done wrong. Yet Simmons approves of the blatant desecration of our ancestor! All in the name of comedy and satire. We wonder why ‘others’ can consistently, tragically misrepresent our ancestors/icons.
Brian Robbins, his collab partner is married to a black woman — Simmons is rarely ever with black women if at all…..yet both men came to a consensus for this.
    Ponder on that….

  • yikes

this is not clever or subversive, or cleverly subversive. this is post-traumatic slave disorder porn. ah yes, the saga of russell simmons= what happens when a sexist, attention-starved, closeted ex-record industry gangster takes a yoga class?.

  • Anonin

Except its not funny so be quiet.

  • Avril

Damn! I couldn’t look at more than a minute of it. WTF! Listen Russell, you can’t complain about Don Lemon and Rush Limbaugh and anyone else who you think hurts black people and then go ahead….AND HURT BLACK PEOPLE!! WTF do you think this does? This is beyond having fun and parody. You took a black hero from slavery and decimated her for a cheap laugh. Nothing and no one is sacred, but if more of us were paying attention, we already know this about Russell. He’s made alot of money selling us out and now he gets to do yoga and be all zen about it.

  • mEE

are you effing kidding? I’m not watching this filth

  • CeeCee

Oh, puh-lease, Russell Simmons is a hypocrite and a massive joke; I’m tired of individuals like him bringing society down.

  • Josh

Isn’t he tired of white people looking at him a certain type of way

  • CeeCee

I’m not surprised at all that he released this video (sorry my comment was cut off).

  • vintage3000

Exactly. It’s easier for them to fantasize about that than deal with the fact that Black men could not do one thing to protect Black women. They could read a hundred slave narratives of Black women who were raped; doesn’t matter. It’s like the husband who is beaten and forced to watch intruders rape his wife. Instead of acknowledging that they were unable to defend their own family, its easier for these males to pretend the woman was complicit somehow.

  • noirluv45

I don’t even know what to say. Speechless. I can’t and won’t watch this piece of garbage. R.S. ought to be strung up for this.

I never liked him, and this justifies it even more.

  • vintage3000

I can imagine one of these buffoons casting a Black male icon in a sex tape. Many BM are proud of the mandingo image, it is their one calling card.

  • The Mighty Quinn

I am still sitting here with my mouth on the floor! I honestly don’t know what to say. This shows all that Buddhist, humbleness Simmons puts on is a front. No words, maybe later.

  • TajMarie

And who is making the most money off of the making of the video?! Exactly . . .

  • Deal-n-Truth

He definitely is a hypocrite and this is the same chump who had the audacity to attempt to denigrate Don Lemon. How dare he smear Harriet Tubman’s name and image as that of a leader and warrior! Thank goodness I don’t support anything he attempts to capitalize off of. Where’s the outrage and the petitions? It’s time to call him out for his hypocrisy.

  • Jrags

Some things shouldn’t be… like this video. It’s tacky and disrespectful of Ms Tubman’s accomplishments.

  • Cheers23

  • MommieDearest

“I won’t even click on the video and give them ad revenue.”

Me either. I flat out REFUSE to be a part of this abomination. I fear that if I lay eyes on the video I will turn into a pillar of salt.

*throws Holy Water at the screen*

    Harriet said it best:

“I would have freed more slaves if they knew they were slaves.”

Apparently Rushell still wears the (mental) shackles. *smh*

  • miks (@KinkyBlackGirl)

this is exactly what i’m here pondering. messy messy mess

  • Anthony

You beat me to the punch. Whenever Simmons criticizes someone again, that person should just run this clip.

  • Deal-n-Truth

And neither will I. I don’t support this man in anyway, shape, fashion or form because he is the worst. I’ve already signed the petition.

  • Deal-n-Truth

    He is a poverty pimp.

  • Teflon Jawn (@Author_JGail)

    wow WoW WOW!

Can hardly believe someone thought this up and it became a reality. WOW.

  • binks

Wow…this is utterly degrading. I just can’t, won’t and don’t want to comprehend this or see reason in this because there is none to be had. Sadly, we have to be aware that some of our “enemies” look like us.

  • Drew-Shane

    I missed it! :((

  • Kay05

  • Kay05

    Stop being a moron!!

  • lowinfo

When I heard dude’s “rebuttal” to Don Lemon, I knew that he was riding dirty and was suspicious of his motives. And now I know that my hunch was right. He engaged with Don publicly so that once this filthy, degrading video hit YouTube, people would be de-armed. All of his supporters from “Global Grind” would say, “But, but, but Uncle Rush loves and defends Black people! Remember his letter to Don Lemon about the Trayvon murder and its effects on the community?”

I’ve never heard him defend Black women, ever. But he defended Gwyneth’s right to say “Niggas in Paris, for real”. These types of degrading, soul murdering videos wouldn’t be made making fun of Jewish people being burned alive and tortured in concentration camps. Asians wouldn’t think it cute to produce vids for kikis and kicks of their people in internment camps.

I think the guy HATES Black women. Is this not an open secret??? But he’s not fooling me. This guy’s being seems filled with pure self-hatred and self disgust that he then projects onto Black women. Why do we keep supporting and making rich so many feeble minded weaklings? HARRIET TUBMAN was probably one of the most courageous people in both American and World history and this simpleton is dumping all over her legacy.

  • Rich Greene

So I guess they found out Harriet Tubman was a Republican and they figured they’d get a pass. And they will…

  • Kay

Whoa. I sooo want to be surprised that it’s a Russell Simmons production but I’m just not. He’s all about the money now, even though it was adhering to the things that built hip hop, including resistance to white supremacy, that helped him get where he is today. But memories are short nowadays. *sigh*

  • WhatIThink

So on every level this is telling you that the blacks in entertainment are primarily traitors. It is 2013 and black folks are trying to win academy awards by recreating gone with the wind (The Butler) which portrays black folks as being “honorable slaves” who were proud to serve white folks and happy for it. Yet not once has a movie about those who fought against such servitude been made until now and it is completely ignorant.

Given that they could have used the same time and effort to make a creative spot about the REAL black struggle in America they chose to coon for laughs and pretend that this is all black folks are supposed to be about.

This is simply telling you in your face and overtly where they stand.. We aren’t here to make the kind of movies we should be making we are here to get money and if throwing black folks under the bus is the only way to do it, then so be it.

If people don’t see it by now then I don’t know what to say, but MOST black folks in entertainment are traitors and sellouts and that is the way it has always been in America.

  • Deb

    My. God.

  • vintage3000

The petition site is saying the video has been removed from youtube. I don’t know because I refuse to click on it. But the petition organizer urges everyone who is disgusted by this to email [email protected] to demand an apology from Simmons, who has not bothered to respond to the outrage. This info is in the link Britni thankfully provided above.

  • Kam

No respect for those who came before us and fought for us.

  • The Other Jess

No shock. Russel Simmons has been trash for years. It is he who brought about “horrorcore” and ushered in gangsta rap, the likes of which effects have been destroying Black communities for a couple of decades now.

Oh, he of the white wife is just showing how much he HATES Black women, which is no different than 80% of the black men in Hip hop. HIP HOP IS DEATH. Once we remember and don’t support this, we will be much better off. Honestly, Russell Simmons should be strung up for this – his devil horns have been budding for years and have finally grown out fully.

You can’t blame this filth on Jewish people, white people, or anybody else – these are powerful BLACKS behind such destructive garbage. If we don’t pull their card for the thousands of wrongs they have done – and stop patting them on the heads as something special every time they do one little thing right – we would be better off.

Off with his head. F*cking idiot.

  • The Other Jess

Also, please note that there is a subset of Black men, particularly in the Hip Hop lifestyle , who feel it is OK for them to be with white women, but hate to see black women with white men. Thus, they put out their own hate-filled propaganda on the level of “Birth of a Nation” to try to discourage healthy relations between the two. I am not one for promoting IR, but this is THE most eveil thing I have ever seen be supported by an influential Black man. This is crazy.

  • The Other Jess

@WhatIThink – Standing up, clapping! And people really should stop supporting EVERYTHING coming out of Hip Hop, like YESTERDAY. Again, Kanye and his “civil right sign”??? by now, if we don’t know our enemy, then we are doomed.

  • The Other Jess

And the IDIOT Black woman who played the role…I don’t even know what to say…smdh

  • The Other Jess

and it’s Simmons who has the influence and power to distribut this to a wide audience, not the idiot actors, who are also wrong in their own right. But Russel Simmons is ABSOLUTELY responsible for this – he bears the full weight of this evil farce.

  • The Other Jess

i refuse to watch this trash. The opening splash picture is more than enough, and knowing Russel Simmons work in the hip hop industry tell me all I need to know about this. We no longer need white people to knock us back into slavery. We are doing an excellent job of it on our own. I always warn of the Blacks in entertainment, particularly Hip Hop. They are ENEMIES of Black people, PARTICULARLY Black women.

  • The Other Jess

Start by not supporting ANY Blacks in Hip Hop – they are ALL brainwashed, black-hating fools – and what they promote is dangerous. has been for years. Hip Hop has been advertising its hatred for black women for DECADES now. Another reason I didn’t support Fruitvale Station – toomany hip hop heads lined up behind that one, asking for us to be sympathetic to a deadbeat drug dealer.

    C. Deloris Tucker tried to tell ya’ll. Folks chose the wrong side, and this is now where we’re at. #RussellSimmonsIstheBlackKKK

  • Nesey (@LeaveMeBe02)

he gave an apology but iI dont accept it. It does not sound sincere. It was an insult to Black women and Black women who have been sexually assaulted then and now

  • luckygirl502

Anything for a buck, huh Russ? You could have made a film depicting her heroism and bravery but nah, that’s something a sell out wouldn’t do!

  • Fifi-Gongon

There is that fantasy that black women bought their way out of slavery by sleeping with the master, that they were desperatly in need of a light skin child that could save them from the fields. What I still don’t understand to this day, is why this fantasy comes from black men and why some of them perpetuate it. I guess the truth of the rape is too hard to admit.

  • Leo

He is only influential to the dumb and clueless. He has no real power. What he did was disempowering and an insult to the legacy of Harriet Tubman and our ancestors. He is the ultimate sellout.

  • Yeezusfan (@Yeezusfan)

Evidently the ‘actress’ is a comedianne who refers to her fans as ‘Mc-Nigglets’ (even selling t-shirts of it) She and Franchesca Ramsey went back and forth on twitter last night over this.

  • DJ Shiva

    Rape jokes: still not funny.

  • geenababe

I wonder what these people be thinking sometimes. I mean really who really thought this would go over well. As actors why would you even want to play these roles. I’m not really surprise it came from Russell Simmons.

  • candicep

Russell doesn’t give a damn about his race. All he cares about is money. You see the kinds of women he is always parading around town on his arms. This was distasteful, poor judgement, idiotic…the plot is pure coonery… why would he even put his stamp of approval in this if not have a part to do with it at all? Dumb! And for someone who is supposedly a “media mogul”? Please! Sell out to the 1 billionth degree.

  • Tina

IRL her fans call her Mama McNigglet and she sells tshirts for her fans or McNigglets as she calls them.

  • Akosua

And not only the “truth of the rape” but the fact and core of the issue is that as men they could not do a thing about it…. so the fantasy as you stated is fabricated to cope.

  • Iforgotitall

Since ANYONE is fair game for ridicule according to certain Hip Hop performers……Picture this……Russell Simmons walks into Rick Rubin’s office and tells him he has just completed an Anne Frank sex tape parody. What do you think Rubin’s response would be? Gut busting laughter at the concept?…..How about Golda Mier?Think again, my friends. We embarrass ourselves!

  • Peary

It’s to mitigate their guilt about how they’ve failed to protect us. They think that If they re-write history to make us look compliant with our rape, they won’t look like complete failures.

  • Godhafi

SMH @ Russell….. i truely thght he waz ah up ‘& coming black leader, but like all 2 b future black leaderz, dey let $$$$ corrupt dem, look @ da founder of B.E.T(sold us out 2 Via com)….. & memba, itz black ppl who sold black ppl n2 slavery, so deez actionz wit black ppl n power r ting bew !!!

Are you actually trying to cast fat women’s bodies as some kind of insult? There must be something wrong with your brain if you are. And just because white men have the power to re-create reality by coining pseudo science terms. Doesn’t mean you have to mindlessly buy into them, repeating them like a squawking parrot.

  • Apple

Wonder if Jews would make a funny video about the Holocaust … Or Natives about getting their land stole? Or Asians about colonialism ? Nope only black people.

  • IG: KristaGene (@YoWhoThatBe)

What is up with these shows portraying the black woman as a bed wench to the white man? They are really trying to destroy our image with shows like Scandal, Love & Hip Hop, The Haves and Have Nots, and now, this mess. SMDH Wake up people.

  • TajMarie

The only reason why Russell Simmons wrote that letter is so he can bring attention to himself. He could care less about the Black Community and only cares about filling his pockets. When Ashley Judd wrote in her memoir the issues that she had with misogyny in rap, Russ could have backed her up instead of cosigning her having to do an apology. However, he didn’t because he has had much to answer to as a former CEO of Def Jams.

  • rw

a man with daughters thought this was funny….
but would it have been if chappelle did it …?

  • cocochanel31

I really had no words for this clip. It made me cringe and embaressed to be black smh.

  • Wanda

We have totally lost the concept of RESPECT these days. SMH!

And doesn’t Russell Simmons have a white man as head of his “Black issues” foundation? I saw him on Don Lemon’s CNN show and couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

wait wait who with a white man on Love and Hip Hop 0_0 omg

  • DiamondsOn_MyBack (@HerDiamondback)

The problem with the hip-hop game is that WE DON’T support them anymore, too busy getting money from White suburban kids to notice what they are doing to their own communities.

  • Sandy248

Do we really expect a black man who marries anybody but a black woman to have respect for black women? And since Public Enemy was on the Def Jam label, perhaps Chuck D needs to have a word with Russ.

  • RJ

Kimora Simmons father is black…so she is not anything but a black woman. But yes his current girlfriend is white and I think that is where is heart is.

  • SayWhat

Let’s see if black men support us in denouncing this video the way they were supported with the whole Mountain Dew thing.

  • shawty

Black men don’t support us like other races of men support their women.

Black men are the oppressor of black women and this needs to stop.

  • brother Askari

Russell Simmons should be ashamed! I wonder what his enslaved female ancestors would say? As a collective we black men have got to show more cultural, historical, and political consciousness by calling out brothas like Russell. There is much in our culture we hold sacred… NOT trashing our ESTEEMED ancestors. Not only that, Russell’s video was an outright ATTACK on Ancestral Black womanhood. I betcha, had Russell lived back in Harriet’s day, and insulted her, she would’ve whupped his ass!.

  • greendoondoon

“I could’ve freed more if they had known they were slaves.” Harriet Tubman.
Your words still ring true, Black Moses.

  • Sandy248

    Was she adopted?

  • TheBWE Bloggersphere (@thebweblog)

    Dear Russell Simmons

The day you put your great-great-grandmother, great-grandmother, mother, wife, and daughters in the same type of porno movie you created for Harriet Tubman is the day you might get a clue that BW are not to be mocked and treated like garbage. It’s shameful we BW have to constantly remind BM like you that we deserve the same respect other women from other ethnic groups get.

You’ve out done yourself. You’ve shown your daughters how much you hold disdain and malice in your soul for them. You’ve shown your daughters the hatred some BM have for them as Black girls. I’m sure your daughters are proud of their father at this very moment.

Tubman took her freedom from those who oppressed her as well as saved many Blacks from a similar fate. Her oppressors were bitterly angry that she had the nerve to demand her humanity. I believe her spirit’s weeping bitter tears knowing you have thrown her life’s sacrifices to the dogs of comedy. You’ve spit searing comedic $!@# upon her soul. Tubman made it possible for you to remain free. Her acts of complete sacrifice made it possible for you to earn a living. Tubman lives in the souls of your daughters. Every time a BM – or any man for that matter – watches your comedic porno movie about Tubman, they’ll see the faces of your great-great-grandmother, great-grandmother, mother, wife, and daughters. Now, don’t you feel proud?”

  • TJ Watts

Simmons is a loser!! Where’s Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on this one . . .

  • Darcy

I thought the same thing! People like Russell Simmons can speak out about black male profiling and Trayvon Martin (truly real issues of course), but allow disrespect of one of our black female historical heroes. 99% of the population will never have the type of courage that Harriet Tubman did, yet her legacy is poked fun at in a horrible juxtaposition of her accomplishment?

  • Night

And the comments by men on the article cement that fact

  • Somosuno

Sigh…we wonder why the present bi-racial generation barely knows a thimble’s worth of the spilled blood, sweat and tears of their victorious African-American ancestors despite the tribulations?

OPEN COMMENT TO RUSSELL (and any other self-hating African-American male whose lowly opinion of making it on her back is a successful woman.):

Ms. Tubman puts you to shame. She embodied leadership, courage through fear, carried a firearm whether soldiering on or at rest; and, told her story walking through the fires of Hell (slavery) without a brother telling her how, when, and what to do.

    Health Care/Warrior Goddess/Patriot:
“When the American Civil War began, Tubman worked for the Union Army, first as a cook and nurse, and then as an armed scout and spy.

    Leadership/Warrior Goddess/Freedom Fighter:
The first woman to lead an armed expedition in the war, she guided the Combahee River Raid, which liberated more than 700 slaves in South Carolina.

    Old school family responsibility:
After the war, she retired to the family home in Auburn, New York, where she cared for her aging parents.

    Women’s Right to Vote:
She became active in the women’s suffrage movement in New York until illness overtook her.

Not quite Social Security Benefits, but:
Near the end of her life, she lived in a home for elderly African Americans that she had helped found years earlier.” (Wikipedia, you dupe…)

BTW, what have you done compared to the Heroic woman you mock? Where is your demonstration of courage through tribulation? I apologize. You did introduce that pre-paid Rush card with THREE DIFFERENT FEE PLANS so poor folks could have access to the American Dream by using their own paychecks, didn’t you?

Shame on you Russell. It seems your liberalism is code for new black conservatism. Say heeeeyyy! to Thomas for us little (d)emo-crats, would ya, would ya, huh?

What in the hot crispy hell did I just watch?

But i guess I shouldnt be shocked since it’s the work of a colorstruck negro like russell Simmons!!!!!

It is amazing to me, that Russel Simmons of all people,
a brother that avoids black women like bugs.
Made a movie, that portraits a heroic black women, in such a disgusting way.
This is somebody. who became rich because a lot of black people, including black women, made him rich, by buying music from his company.
This only shows, money can`t buy you, intelligence and class.

If black men cared about Harriet Tubman, as they should, there would not be as many men dependent on people like Al Sharpton and Russell Simmons in the first place.

If only a group of people could be responsible for how young black men are raised to keep them from being dependent on these creeps, staying home on sunday night, studying and always going to school and, for example, not being suspended 3 times and being fascinated by fights as evidenced in their text messages.

It goes both ways. If only more people could have seen how full of it he was and called him out on it, maybe he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to disparage a national treasure in the first place.
