After receiving raving reviews for his poignant film 12 Years a Slave, director Steve McQueen has been tapped by HBO for more work. According to Deadline, McQueen is developing a TV drama series for HBO. This is his first project for television.
Much information about the project hasn’t been released, however it has been described as a mix between Six Degrees Of Separation and Shame. The show will follow “a young African-American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems.”
Casting is still underway for the project, however Russell Simmons and World War Z co-writer Matthew Michael Carnahan have been tapped to executive produce the series.
