Mary-J-Blige-Shape-Magazine-2_zps95be35cb-1

Have you seen Mary J. Blige lately? She’s looking real good. The 42-year-old R&B singer is flaunting rock-hard abs on the December cover of SHAPE magazine. How does she stay so fit? According to Mary, no alcohol is allowed in her diet.

I haven’t had a drink in a year and three months,” she said. “I had quit for a long time but started again about five years ago. I’m off it completely once more, and now I feel stronger than ever!”

She can’t be wrong. Alcohol is known to pack on more calories than you count and is always ill-advised as part of weight loss regimens.

Clutchettes, what do you do to stay fit? Do you have any tips and tricks that you can share with the Clutch community? Sound off!

She looks great! Zumba at least 4 times a week and I try to have water with every meal. I also don’t keep sweets or alcohol in the house; that’s helped reduce my intake considerably.

    Beautiful woman.

What really kicked it into gear was watching “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” “Food, Inc.” and “Forks over Knives” (all on Netflix).
That’s the only reason why I don’t agree with Crossfit meal plan sometimes (too much meat = cancer). But anyway watch the movies and you’ll get it. My mom had kidney failure (caused by her doctor prescribing the wrong meds). I had her watch this, she juiced with me and is not only back to normal, lost 30 lbs and is on 3 small dose medications (she was on 15 before). My mom runs now…She’s 60… She hasn’t ran since she was in high school.

I work out 5-6 times a week with the group classes (body bump, spin, running, jump roap, pilates, etc.) in the gym. Juice on a regular basis (at the beginning of the day – NOT ALL DAY) and I avoid sugar like the plague.

I also do not eat meat unless its dinner time, but I have tried to stay only on seafood (sushi, etc.). I don’t even crave fast food anymore because I feel like disgusting after. I also cook 80 percent of my food (to avoid unnecessary hidden garbage).

Before I was 190lbs (for a few years). Now I’m 148 (range from size 4-6).
