“12 Years A Slave”  will battle it out with “Captain Phillips,” “Gravity,” “Philomena” and “Rush” for Best Motion Picture – Drama honors at the 71st annual Golden Globes awards. The nominations were announced this morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press.

The movie also received Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor – Drama (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Best Supporting Actor (Michael Fassbender) and Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong’o). Steve McQueen was also nominated in the Best Director category.

    So happy with the nominations this year and for 12 Years A Slave. Great movie. I do think that The Butler was snubbed though. I personally thought it was a great film and Oprah’s performance was outstanding.

    Also elated for my girl Kerry Washington! She does an awesome job with that character and she deserves this.

  • While this is great news, I’m disappointed and surprised that Fruitvale Station didn’t get any love.

  • Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards show was pretty much everything viewers want the Golden Globes to be – from its humorous informalities down to some of the inexplicable winners of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s nearly meaningless film and television awards.
