A Brockton, Mass. mother was arrested this week after customers phoned police officers when they saw her spanking her son in the grocery store.
Marie Lyssa Mars spanked her 5-year-old son as she stood in the checkout line. Other shoppers urged her to stop, but she didn’t. Once Mars was finished with checking out, some shoppers then followed her to her car. Mar’s license plate was written down and the police were called.
Moments after driving out of the supermarket’s parking lot, Mars was arrested. When authorities asked her why she spanked her child, she said he was “was a very active child,” and that she was just “disciplining him.”
Mars’ bail was set at $5,000 and her son was turned over to the Department of Children and Families. Her arraignment is set for March 3.
Clutchettes, what would you have done in the situation? Would you have called the cops?
