Many actresses in Hollywood are vying for a role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII, including Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nyong’o met with J.J. Abrams a few weeks before she captured a gold statue for her role in 12 Years A Slave.
Rumors abound in regard to which role Nyong’o could be considered for. Some say one possibility would be a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was described as a non-Caucasian role.
Not only are there talks of a Star Wars appearance, but Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie hinted to an upcoming collaboration with Hollywood newcomer Lupita Nyong’o.
“I’m going to do the mysterious thing and say that Lupita might be making an announcement very soon,” said Adichie. “I don’t know. That announcement might be about Americanah.”
Americanah, which just won Adichie the prestigious National Book Critics Circle Award, is the story of a Nigerian blogger who returns to her home country from the US to meet the man who was her childhood sweetheart.
It looks as though the next year is going to have Nyong’o quite busy!
