I remember when I took my spring break, I went to…Wait. Oh. Nowhere. But the First Daughters, Sasha and Malia Obama, will spend a whole week in China. I must say, that’s rather exciting!
The women of the White House, including First Granny Marian Robinson, arrived in Beijing late Thursday to meet with First Lady Peng Liyuan. They will spend most of the time promoting educational and cultural exchanges as well as deepening “ties between the world’s two largest economies.”
“We believe that this visit will play an important role in increasing mutual understanding between the two countries and expanding friendship,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters before First Lady Obama’s arrival.
Of course the trip isn’t all business since the girls are tagging along. The family plans to travel to the western historic city of Xi’an and the southern city of Chengdu, where they’ll visit a panda reserve. They also plan to go to historical landmarks like the Great Wall of China.
