Not a week goes by when there isn’t conversation a conversation on Twitter that spawns a perfectly executed hashtag. Earlier this week, Mia McKenzie a writer and creator of Black Girl Dangerous, discussed her disbelief when she was approached by a White woman who wanted to write for her site. The woman apparently felt that it didn’t matter that she’s White, she could still write about Black LBGTQ experiences.

Well, I’ll be damned.

Once McKenzie replied back to the woman, and declined her proposal, apparently the woman became upset.  Like how dare a Black woman decline a White woman’s request to write about Black LBGTQ issues!

And so the hashtag #whitepeoplequivalents was born.

But you know what, there’s always going to be some White person who still doesn’t get it.

It’s more than just white people not getting it. I thinks It’s more about them thinking that their whiteness makes them entitled to everything.
