Singer and songwriter The-Dream is reportedly in custody today after turning himself into New York Police who were seeking to question him about an alleged domestic assault incident.
According to TMZ, The-Dream, born Terius Nash, was charged with assault and strangulation stemming from an April 2013 confrontation at the Plaza Hotel with his then-girlfriend, Lydia Nam, who accused the singer of punching, kicking, and strangling her while she was pregnant with his fifth child.
Although the assault allegedly occurred in April 2013, Nam did not file a police report detailing the incident until November 2013.
The-Dream has vigorously denied Nam’s claims, however, this isn’t the first time the couple was involved in a violent episode. Last June, The-Dream was arrested in Newport Beach, CA after a domestic altercation, but prosecutors dropped the case after Nam refused to press charges.
In addition to being booked for felony assault and strangulation, The-Dream was also charged with three misdemeanors—assault, reckless endangerment, and child endangerment.
