A Nelson County, Va., jury has found Randy Taylor, 48, guilty of first-degree murder in the commission of an abduction and abduction with intent to defile in the slaying of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy.
Murphy disappeared last August. She was last seen on surveillance footage leaving a Liberty gas station in her white Nissan Maxima behind Taylor’s camouflage truck. Authorities found Murphy’s car several days later in an Albemarle County parking lot. Blood and pieces of hair were found in Randy Taylor’s camper during the investigation.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Anthony Martin argues Taylor “lured” the teen there, killed her in a violent struggle, and disposed of the body. Murphy’s body has not been found.
Taylor faces life sentences for both charges of murder and abduction.
