In today’s vile news, a 37-year-old Lousiana teacher is in jail after not only having sexual contact with a 16-year-old student, but also knowingly exposing him to the AIDS virus.
Terrebonne Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Derrick Nesby on Wednesday at H.L. Bourgeois High School, where he had been teaching and coaching track for the past year.
“We can establish the fact that there was an encounter that happened,” says Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Chief of Detectives Malcolm Wolfe. “We continued our investigation where we established more evidence that something did happen, and at that point we got a warrant for his arrest.”
It was through the detectives’ investigation that they discovered Nesby has AIDS and he exposed the teen to the virus without the teen’s knowledge.
Nesby faces felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and intentional exposure of the AIDS virus charges.
“Both of these charges are felonies,” says news legal analyst Chick Foret. “Both of these charges carry with them the maximum prison sentence of 10 years in prison.”
Nesby remains behind bars on a $1M bond.
