071714 Gun Check 1

According to gun safety advocacy group Everytown, the presence of a gun in domestic violence situations increases the risk of homicide of women by 500 percent. Yet the government doesn’t keep guns out the hands of abusers and stalkers.

The organization has created an infographic showing that 38 percent fewer women are shot to death by their domestic partner in states requiring background checks. The group also says that background checks have already prevented nearly 300,000 sales to domestic abusers.
