Jada Pinkett Smith is revealing how she successfully juggles being a wife, mom, actress and staying healthy in the latest issue of Health. The beautiful 43-year-old Gotham actress dishes on how she stays in shape and much more in the issue. Check out some snippets from the interview below:

On Her Fitness Regimen:

It’s funny—my cardio workout varies. If I have a heavy carb week, I’ve got a heavy cardio week. I tell people all the time, “You can eat whatever you want, as long as you’re willing to put the work in,” and that’s a thing I had to learn. So I make sure I do something physical every single day. But that doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym and freakin’ kill yourself! I do 20 minutes of cardio a day. Everybody’s thinking you gotta be in the gym for an hour and a half. Literally, I’m never in the gym longer than 45 minutes. Just be consistent—that’s it!

On Keeping A Good Attitude About Getting Older:

Because it is what it is! I’m getting older! I’ve never looked at myself as, like, a beauty. I’m not sore on the eye, but I know there’s always going to be somebody more beautiful—always. My grandmother used to say to me, “It’s not about what you look like on the outside. It’s what you look like on the inside.” So she helped me learn at an early age to be well-rounded, to be spiritual, to be compassionate.

On Date Night with Will:

A lot of times, we’ll do it at the house because when we go out it can be a little hectic. So we have different places around our yard where we like to set up a little Arabian tent, pillows, wine and cheese, candlelight. Will likes really thought-out productions.

    Jada’s in amazing shape, but I don’t think she’s eaten a genuine carb in 20 years, despite what the “Health” cover says. Carbs to her are sweet potatoes and quinoa.

    No shade, but please don’t pretend like you are eating russet potatoes and macaroni while exercising 20 minutes a day. Her figure denotes of a lot of weight lifting also.

    She looks great in these photos, though. In the past she has sometimes looked borderline emaciated.

      That’s definitely shade…She just eats the good carbs and there isn’t anything wrong w/ that.

  • She looks beautiful! She’s right though; you can eat anything (although I wouldn’t encourage it) as long as you put in the physical work! My aunt is 51, in the gym 5 times a week and gorgeous! She’s my role model!

    Jada looks good and shes healthy. The problem is people eat too much junk food, you drink sodas and juice, sweet tea. I won’t even get to portion s being too large and not doing any sort of exercise. I read the article, shes not doing anything new, shes practicing a healthy lifestyle. If It’s not on the food pyramid or the ingredient list is something you can’t pronounce, you should not eat it.

    I wish she never got them! other than that she is ion physical top shape so thats an inspiration!
