Ray Rice’s wife, Janay Rice, is finally speaking out about her husband being cut from the Ravens and suspended from the NFL. But it’s not exactly the comment people may have hoped to hear.

Janay posted a message on her Instagram account to say exactly who ruined her family’s lives:

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend,” Janay Rice wrote. “But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that [the] media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass [off] for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.
“THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”

The Baltimore Sun verified that the message is from Janay’s Instagram account, but it is now private.

Some may say that Janay is exhibiting classic battered women characteristics, by blaming everyone but the punch who threw the punches. The media didn’t make Ray Rice knock her out and drag her out of an elevator. One can only hope this family gets help.

It’s utterly disgusting that multiple sites are actually playing this video. This is further abuse being perpetrated upon the victim. Irrespective of her statements and whether she chose to remain with this man and to marry him, she is still a VICTIM who is being further humiliated, shamed and VICTIMized by you. Clearly she is being denigrated, hit with blunt force in the face/head, lost consciousness, was near death, with her genitals and private body parts being exposed for the world to see. The statement she made reflecting that she may be holding the public accountable for victimizing her, may have been poorly articulated and ill-advised, but she is correct in that she is being further denigrated by sites such as this one for ratings and posterity. Shameful.
