2014 has been a great year for “Orange is the New Black” Uzo Aduba and baseball sensation Mo’ne Davis. Both Aduba and Davis exemplify strength and humility as well as radiate beauty. It’s no surprise why they are among the women chosen for Harper’s Bazaar’s 2014 “Women Who Dare” issue.
What makes a woman who dare you inquire? According to the magazine, it is “vision, commitment, style—and a total lack of fear.”
Draped in a Carolina Herrera dress and a Stephen Webster pendant, the Emmy award-winning actress dishes on her iconic character. Aduba said, “Suzanne was described to me as innocent like a child, except children aren’t scary. Whatever she does comes from a place of curiosity.” [The eyes] “I focused on last. Like when she winks, she thinks she’s doing it with one eye, but it’s with both. She just can’t quite nail it.”
As for Davis, the 13-year-old rocks a Marc Jacobs dress and a Vince t-shirt. Becoming the first girl in history to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series, Davis touches on the male competition. She said, “Most want to hit against me, just to say they got a hit.”
When writer Laura Brown asked how often does that happen? Davis replied, “Not very often. Maybe at the end of the game when I’m tired, but that’s pretty much it.”
