Dove Hair has launched a new campaign to help celebrate, inspire and encourage both women and girls with curly hair to love their curls.

The ‘Love Your Curls’ #loveyourcurls initiative aims on encouraging young girls of all backgrounds to be proud of their curly hair.

‘Love Your Curls’ campaign and film, which encourages women to celebrate, love and take pride in their curly hair. The ‘Love Your Curls’ film draws on a selection of unique stories that powerfully illustrate the relationship young girls have with their curls. As little girls, many struggle to accept their curls and wish they could change their curly hair to straight. Ultimately, the film reveals that if women with curly hair begin to celebrate all the things they love about their curls, young girls will be inspired to do the same. In fact, Dove Hair found that little girls are seven times more likely to love their curls if people around them do.

In a recent global study commissioned by Dove Hair, they found one in three women in the US have wavy to curly hair; however ‘straight, sleek’ hair is often portrayed as the traditional standard of beauty. Plus..

  • Only 10% of women in the US with curly hair feel proud of their hair
  • Only 4 in 10 girls with curly hair think that their hair is beautiful
  • Little girls are 7X more likely to love their curls if people around them do

“At Dove, we recognize that there is a very complex relationship between a woman and her hair,” Rob Candelino, vice president of Unilever Haircare, said in the press release. “Our Love Your Curls campaign is intended to inspire millions of women to feel confident about embracing their natural curls. If women show the world just how much they love their hair, they will positively impact the next generation to do the same.”

I DO love my curls, what I don’t like is that section of hair right in the crown that REFUSES to CURL no matter WHAT I DO. Urgh!! So when you see me with a curly pony tail PLEASE stop asking, “Why don’t you ever wear your hair down curly?” I HATE THAT ISH. :)

That was my problem too I think it was the hair dye that did it. Its gotten better though because of weekly deep conditioning treatments!

Its never been dyed, but it is dry as the desert! I cowash it a lot, but the middle. Smh.

Have you considered protein treatments? That might help too. I found that usually the crown area problem was like you said dryness or damage related. Deep conditioning helped with dryness and protein helps the strands.

I’m gonna try that. It’s funny because that part of my hair is the most coarse and the most fragile at the same time.

Oh that will def help then. Aphogee is a popular choice but if you want something more natural there’s also hydrolyzed wheat protein treatments on amazon!

    • Anonin gave you good recommendations! I alternate between bi weekly protein treatments and deep conditioning.
