When it comes to social commentary, the last one who needs to speak on it is Kanye West. In a recent interview, West told a reporter that he thought racism was a dated concept.

“Racism is a dated concept. It’s like a silly concept that people try to touch on … to separate, to alienate, to pinpoint anything, it’s stupid. … It’s something that was used to hold people back in the past, but now there’s been so many leaps and breaking of the rules that it’s played out, like a style from the 1800s,” West stated.

Well it must be nice to live the rich life wearing rose-colored glasses. The funny thing about his comments is that it’s always people like him upon the receipt of their “Negro, wake-up” slap in the face that shows them just how really racism really is, then they become champions for justice.

“It’s like a bouncing ball in a room with two cats, or something, when you don’t feel like playing with a cat. Let them literally fight over the bouncing ball. And the bouncing ball has nothing, no purpose, anything other than that: It bounces,” continued the rapper. “That’s racism. It’s not an actual thing that even means anything.”

Must be nice to be a “new Black.”

Clutchettes, what do you think about Kanye’s comments?

It surprises me that of a 34 minute interview of some very intelligent insight that 30 second of comment on his views of racism is the headline and the focus of 90% of people.
