She’s catching a lot of flack online, but a Baltimore mother who snatched up her son in the middle of the riots is now speaking out.

Toya Graham spotted her 16-year-old son in a crowd of teens vandalizing and looting during the Baltimore riots Monday. Cameras captured the moment she confronted and struck the boy, and the video went viral. Graham, a single mother of six, told “CBS This Morning” what happened when she saw her son.

Many people feel that Graham’s actions were deplorable and set a bad example. Others felt the son got what he deserved.

Clutchettes, now seeing her side, what do you think?

I sympathize with the Baltimore mother’s fear, anger, and hurt at the situation. She is right to say that her son should not be killed by the police. I don’t agree with her slapping her son like that in public though. She should have responded in a better way. Yet, I understand where she is coming from. We need our families to grow and we want fascist police terrorism to end.

I get her motives and not questioning her on the fact that she wants her son safe and away from the foolishness of rioting instead of protesting but in hindsight her actions was not the best method nor is the fact that she is getting praised and this video going viral for all the wrong reasons and again is being used for certain “narratives”. As I said before, I hope both this mother and son talked it out after emotions were cooled and that the mother take her son out to actually protest.

I had mixed feelings about this; on one hand I liked the fact she knew where he was and for his safety she wanted to stop what he was doing, but the slapping in the face was a bit much but that’s their business. It’s unfortunate it played out on national tv

This poor boy will never be able to go back to school…

My fear is that the kid ends up shooting someone teasing him about his mom.

      O GOD. I hope not!!

I’m always skeptical at the people (especially black people) that white america “heroizes”. Always hidden agendas behind this.
