brittney-griner-01-435Almost 3 weeks after their domestic violence incident, WNBA stars Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson were married at a Phoenix resort.

According to People, 75 people attended the ceremony Friday at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.

Their first dance was to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”

Johnson wore a full-length, strapless champagne gown with a small train by Matthew Christopher that she selected from Bridals by Lori in Atlanta on an episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress.

In regards to the domestic violence incident, Griner accepted a plea deal to enter domestic violence counseling, after which the charges against her will be dismissed, USA Today reports. Johnson enrolled in counseling voluntarily.

“It is never OK for an argument to turn physical,” Griner said in a statement released through her attorney. “This will never happen again, and I take my relationship and my responsibility as a role model seriously.”

“I am committed to making positive changes and I plan to use what I have learned to set a good example and help make a difference in the world around me,” she added.

isn’t this exactly the same thing ray rice did after beating on his fiance? i feel like athletes who get caught in dv marry their victims to silence them & get the media off their backs. but hey… maybe they’re in love.

yea, except in this case, they’re both ray rice and equally guilty. it seems Griner wearing the suit makes her the man in the relationship and by default taking a lionshare of the blame for their DV incident.

for me, it’s less about who’s “the man” & more about how sports & entertainment industries sweep dv under the rug by marrying folks off even if they’re in a violent relationship. griner hasn’t even started her counseling classes yet, but she’s already married to the woman she beat just 3 weeks ago. it’s like they want us to believe that since they’re married, it’s all good now when the fact is probably more like since they’re married it makes it harder for the victim of dv to publicly accuse her spouse if it happens again in the future.

With two women arrested how does the court decide who is at fault in this incident? Clearly the court viewed this as a domestic dispute. Why was Griner held accountable in court? Is it because she presents as masculine or because she is larger in stature? Clearly if neither of them could be contained without police, does that make one a victim and the other a perpetrator? This is so interesting.

As LBGTQ relationships become more mainstream it will be interesting to see how their domestic issues are dealt with in the judicial system. I can’t congratulate these nuptials, but I do wish them well.

So Brittany Garner a role model, and Mayweather a Slime ball who shouldn’t be forgiven. You guys are pretty twisted.

I know of no one who has praised Brittney Griner since her arrest.
