Nowadays you can’t expect much from Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. I get it. He’s on Bravo. He thinks he’s an honorary black woman because he banters with the likes of every black reality TV show woman that’s out there. But Cohen is like a puss-filled boil on society and he proved that on Sunday’s Watch What Happens Live.
Cohen, with guests Laverne Cox and Andre Leon Talley, labeled Amandla Stenberg the ‘Jackhole of the Day’. Basically the equivalent of Charlamagne’s “Donkey of the Day,” all because of her comments about Kylie Jenner and appropriation.
And guess what? Cox and Talley had the nerve to sit there and agree with him.
“Today’s Jackhole goes to the Instagram feud between Kylie Jenner and Hunger Games star/Jaden Smith’s prom date Amandla Stenberg who criticized Kylie for her cornrows, calling it cultural appropriation. White girls in cornrows … is it OK or nay, Laverne and Andre?” Cohen asked.
“To me, it’s fine,” Talley replied.
“Umm … Bo Derek,” Cox stated.
Umm, how about no.
First of all, Mr. Needs a Clue doesn’t realize that the comment weren’t about whether or not white women can wear cornrows, but about appropriation. But obviously no one on the panel knows what that means.
You’d think that Cox and Talley would have come to Amandla’s defense, you know, being black and all. But they didn’t and that’s the really sad part out of all of this.
It’s actually not that Amandla can’t defend herself, because she’s already done a good job of doing that, it’s the fact that in mixed company, these two black people didn’t see this white man was calling a young Black child a ‘jackhole’.
Sorry, Cox and Talley, all of the cool points you had…are now gone.
