Serena Williams remains victorious. Williams beat older sister Venus 6-4, 6-3 Monday at Wimbledon to advance to the quarterfinals.
Both Serena and Venus are five-time champions at the All England Club, but Serena is on track for a true Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open and French Open this year.
“It’s hard to feel excited,” Serena told the BBC after the match. “It’s never easy to play someone that you love and care about. She’s my best friend in the world. I just had to stay focused.”
“It definitely doesn’t get easier,” Serena said of facing her sister. “I was thinking that I am 33 and she just turned 35. I plan on playing for years, but you never know, so I just took that moment in. It was kind of surreal for a moment there.”
“It was really good for me to get it done in straight sets and put this behind me.”
