It’s been almost three years since Rihanna dropped her last studio album, Unapologetic, and since then the Bajan beauty has kept her fans on the edge of their seats by dropping hits like “Bitch Betta Have My Money” and “FourFiveSeconds.” While there’s been tons of rumors about when R8 would be dropping, we now know who’s to blame for its delay: Kanye West.
“His schedule and mine are totally opposite right now,” Rihanna told NME magazine. “But I think this month we’ll be back in the studio.”
Earlier this year, Yeezy announced he was executive producing Rih Rih’s eighth record, and according to the Diamonds singer, she just has way too many good tracks to choose from.
“I have so many songs I love – and they’re so different – that it’s hard to actually put them all on the same album,” she explained.
So…I guess Yeezy isn’t totally to blame, eh?
Despite the promise of good music, Rihanna’s Navy–her legion of rabid fans–are getting restless about having to wait so long…and she knows it.
“No matter what I post online, within three comments there’s somebody saying, ‘Where is ‘R8′?’ I could post anything. Nothing else matters. They don’t care about anything but that,” Rihanna said. “But it makes me excited, because I can’t wait to give them something great.”
We’ll keep our fingers crossed it’ll happen soon.
