If you’re not up on Comedy Central’s super funny (and educational!) show Drunk History, you’re missing out.
The official description of Drunk History is that it’s “the liquored-up narration of our nation’s history,” but that only tells part of the story.
The best thing about the show? It’s HILARIOUS, and it actually teaches folks about moments in American history they’ve probably forgotten, or worse, never even heard about at all.
On the most recent episode of Drunk History, Crissle West (half of the amazing podcast The Read) retells the truly amazing story of the Combahee River raid and Harriet Tubman’s work as a spy for the Union Army. Even better? Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer plays Tubman in a way that really brings the heroine to life.
Our favorite line from the episode: “Goddamn, I freed 750 slaves. This shit was dope as hell!”
