Spike Lee just dropped the trailer for his highly-anticipated film CHI-RAQ and it will no-doubt have folks talking.

The film, set against the backdrop of Chicago’s gang epidemic, is a remake of the ancient Greek comedic play Lysistrata.

In Lysistrata, the women band together and refuse to have sex with their husbands until they put an end to the war. In CHI-RAQ, the girlfriends and wives of the city’s gang members hope to pull off a similar move, refusing to give up the cookie until the killing stops.

CHI-RAQ boasts an all-star cast, which includes vets like Angela Bassett, Samuel L. Jackson, and Wesley Snipes alongside breakout stars like Teyonah Parris and Nick Cannon. It will drop in a limited number of theaters on December 4 before being released on Amazon Instant Video.

I hear it’s a play on a greek tragedy. I don’t think I’ve watched a Spike Lee movie that I haven’t liked so I’m definitely interested seeing it.

I’ve supported Spike Lee’s works from the beginning and I admired his perseverance after the Hollywood power structure slammed the door in his face.
I thought this project was going to be a documentary along the lines of “When the Levees Broke”.
I wasn’t impressed with the HBO Vice documentary because it failed to cover the cause and affect issues that have given way to the senseless violence.
I don’t like the term Chi-raq because it tends to glorify the problem which leads to media bias and negativity, which I’ve seen on other forums.
Nick Cannon as a banger?………no comment.
