With Nene gone from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we should’ve known Bravo would have something big up its sleeve, but honestly we thought the Real Housewives franchise was on its way out. Clearly, we couldn’t been more wrong as the network just announced the creation of an entirely new franchise: The Real Housewives of Potomac. And if you’ve already noticed it’s chock full of, er, “color,” you’d be right. As the Daily Dish explained:

Located just up the river from our nation’s capital of Washington, D.C., Potomac is a cozy, upscale enclave with gated mansions, rolling hills, and exclusive country clubs. Viewers will be introduced to the wealthy African-American families who have broken racial barriers and now reside in the sophisticated community. The Real Housewives of Potomac will follow socialite and single mom Gizelle Bryant, international model and TV personality Katie Rost, grand dame Karen Huger, social butterfly Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, publicist and single mom Robyn Dixon, as well as restaurateur Ashley Darby.

In other words, get ready for another set of boughetto black women acting a fool. And no, that’s not a pre-judgement; we’ve already watched the trailer. See for yourselves below and let us know if you’ll be watching The Real Housewives of Potomac when it premieres Sunday, January 17 at 9/8c. P.S. The Real Housewives of Dallas is happening next year too.

I’m so excited to watch the show and support my girlfriend Ashley (the one with the curly hair). Living in DC and having friends who would be considered black “socialites”, I’ve never seen or heard of the other ladies. Hmmmm maybe they never leave Potomac (slight shade)…. which is a suburb of DC. Anywho looks like it will be plenty catty and interesting. I know Ash can hold her own though.

I’m not adding any new real housewives to my tv schedule no matter where they are or what race they are. I only watch now becuase I’ve already been sucked into the storylines of the characters that have been around for years. But they are getting old (and annoying) and I’m pretty much done with them. This franchise needs to go away entirely. The last few new Housewives shows did not last so Bravo may want to give it a rest.

Tv in general sucks these days. Now I see why so many acquaintances of mine either don’t have a tv at all or they have a tv but no cable.

  • Odd Bravo would try this again after the failure of The Real Housewives of DC…
