Congratulations are due for Taraji P. Henson and Denzel Washington after Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards.
Henson became the 3rd black woman to capture a Golden Globe for Best TV Actress in a drama for her role as Cookie Lyon on Empire and Washington was awarded the Cecil B. Demille Award for his excellence in acting. Washington was also the 3rd black man to win the Demille award.
During Henson’s walk up to the stage to accept her gift, she handed out cookies to everyone. In her speech, she sarcastically spoke about her previous roles, and how it took her to win with the role of a former convict.
Washington, who was introduced by Tom Hanks, brought up his whole family, minus one son, and joked about forgetting his glasses. Washington’s career has spanned almost 30 years, and spoke about his mother who convinced his father to buy higher wattage light bulbs. Oh, and yes, his fine ass son, John, was also on stage.
Congrats to both!
