UK retail giant ASOS is under fire for selling a “racist” T-Shirt on their website. Liverpool streetwear label Wasted Heroes simply printed the word slave across the front with the letter S above it. A black male model is modeling the shirt, which only made folks angrier. The ASOS customer inquiries Twitter responded to users saying it was removing the item from the site and that it would investigate the seller. A spokesperon also issued the following statement to The Tab:
“Marketplace is a collection of Independent sellers who must agree to our terms and conditions when they join. Whenever we find a product that violates our policies we remove it immediately. There is also a “report this item” link under every product picture.”
The Wasted Heroes also issued an apology to Twitter explaining the concept saying it was meant to be interpreted as “slave for fashion”.
What are your thoughts on Wasted Label’s creative failure?
