A Brooklyn family is now raising funds to help pay for the funeral of 17-year-old Ta’Jae Warner.
Warner was beaten into a coma by a group of teens late Friday outside the Ocean Towers on W. 24th St. in Coney Island, prosecutors said. Warner died Tuesday from her injuries.
Friends say Ta’Jae was walking her 11-year-old brother to the store when a group of teens approached, made a remark and then attacked her.
So far the only person arrested in Ta’Jae’s death is Sarina Agard-Forde, 18, and she’s being charged with felony and misdemeanor assault, though prosecutors expect to bring more serious charges.
Ta’Jae’s mother was left struggling to comprehend what had happened to her daughter.
“I don’t know what happened,” Niece Warner said, choking back tears as she clutched a framed portrait of her daughter.
“She had no enemies. She never really went outside,” she said, adding that cops told her they were still trying to figure out what exactly happened.
“The detectives, they got surveillance camera and stuff. That’s what they told me,” she said.
