According to gossip rag Us Weekly, Jay-Z is working on a response to his wife’s wildly popular new album, Lemonade.
Many wondered if Bey’s project detailing a couple’s infidelity, betrayal, and ultimately reconciliation was autobiographical, and it looks like Jigga is hoping to keep the speculation going, at least long enough to sell more albums.
Us Weekly reports:
An insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that the rap icon, 46, is recording songs that will reveal his version of events surrounding the rough patch in his eight-year marriage to Beyoncé. “Jay is working on an album telling his side of things,” explains a source close to the couple.
Beyoncé’s dad said Lemonade wasn’t based on the Carter’s marriage. He told Us Weekly, “Maybe she dug deep and made it about something we all could relate to.”
If Jay-Z does decide to tell his side of the story, he certainly has the chops to pull it off. On Song Cry, the former “pimp by blood” reflected on a woman he let slip through his hands because of his cheating ways.
How was I to know that you was plain sick of me?
I know the way a nigga living was whack
But you don’t get a nigga back like that!
Shit I’m a man with pride, you don’t do shit like that
You don’t just pick up and leave and leave me sick like that
You don’t throw away what we had, just like that
I was just fucking them girls, I was gon’ get right back
They say you can’t turn a bad girl good
But once a good girl’s gone bad, she’s gone forever
I mourn forever, shit
I’ve got to live with the fact I did you wrong forever
Will Jay drop a part two? I’ll guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
