Jesse Jackson is in hot water after having dinner with notoriously racist French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen, former leader of the country’s extreme right-wing National Front party.
Jackson was in France for the country’s National Day of Remembrance of Slavery and spent time with French President François Hollande and Prime Minister Manuel Valls.
Jackson said Le Pen randomly ended up at a dinner with him and it wasn’t planed. Le Pen tweeted a photo with Jackson, and Jackson also gave him his autograph.
Jackson said he coincidentally ran into Le Pen, but Le Pen’s aide was like ‘nah.’
“There was no trap, and there was even an agreement with their mutual Moroccan friends that the dinner was not private,” the aide said. “The photos were taken by a professional photographer.”
Jackson finally admitted that the whole dinner was pre-arranged.
.@lepenjm Did not know you were coming to dinner. Never met you before. Do not share your beliefs.

“The fact that he posted the picture on the day of the commemoration proves that he was trying to create a distraction,” Jackson told HuffPost France.
