Just days after Hillary Clinton wrapped up the Democratic presidential nomination, President Obama has officially gotten into the campaign and endorsed his former Secretary of State.

While pundits guessed the president’s official endorsement would come some time next week, the Clinton campaign released a video of Mr. Obama throwing his support behind the nominee today.

The timing of President Obama’s message is interesting, considering it came just hours after he met with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who has vowed to remain in the race.

In his support for Clinton, President Obama said she’d be perfect for the job.

“I know how hard this job can be, that’s why I know Hillary will be so good at it. In fact, I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,” the president said.

Mr. Obama also implored his supporters to get behind Clinton because he’s “fired up” to help her campaign.
