This past weekend, the Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show made its way to the Sheraton Times Square in New York City and Clutch was in attendance! In case you missed it or you’ve been contemplating whether or not to buy tickets for the next one, here are three reasons why you should!

1. Discover New Products – I didn’t intend on buying anything when I first arrived. But that’s only because I had never been to a hair expo before. It only took about 5 minutes of me being there before I was asking, “So do you accept cards?” while rubbing various scented whipped butters into my skin. There were dozens of vendors there, all selling the most beautifully unique items ranging from jewelry to stunning African print garments to giant tubs of shea butter, Black Girl Magic tees and everything in between. The vendors for this event included smaller, black-owned brands like Ancient Blends (Their plant-based gel is a best seller), Fourera’s Natural Beauty Products (Their Mango Cream is bomb!), Naturally Me Dolls, and notable crowd favorites like Mixed Chicks, Curls, House Of Zanzibar, Jane Carter Solution and Karen’s Body Beautiful.

2. Bond With Other Naturals – When I walked in, no one had to give me directions. I simply followed the curls, koils and kinks straight up to the event doors. I was proud to be in the same room with hundreds of beautiful women, children (and men) all rocking different variations of natural. Aside from sampling products and perusing merchandise, make sure look around and scope out the attendees every once in a while. Our hairstyles are just as fascinating as the rest of the exciting things happening in the building.

3. Meet Your Favorite Vloggers & Learn New Styling Techniques – Still haven’t managed to nail down a stellar flexirod set? You might just be able to after attending one of the many educational workshops the World Natural Hair Show has to offer. Janel Sealy Smith aka CocoaMane was on hand to school us on the importance of abandoning that cowashing wave once and for all. You can also expect to run into some of your fave hair vloggers and celebs. Alley Sinai, Ashley H and Nicollette along with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, among others, were in attendance.

Overall, it was an amazing event and while it’s too early to know whether or not #WNHS will be back this way anytime soon, Atlanta’s next show dates are all set. For more information and to buy tickets, visit NaturalHairShow.org
